It's been more than two years since FX's acclaimed crime anthology Fargo last graced our screens, but creator Noah Hawley has offered a promising update: Season 6 is very much alive. In a recent chat with Deadline, Hawley revealed that conversations with the network are ongoing, and he hopes to make an official announcement soon.

"Those are conversations that are still ongoing – where it could fit. I hope to have an announcement about it soon. It’s great to see the enthusiasm is still there," Hawley said. The series, which has neither been canceled nor renewed since its fifth season wrapped in January 2024, has a history of irregular gaps between installments. Season 1 and 2 arrived a year apart, but Season 3 took two years, and both Seasons 4 and 5 each required three-year waits.

Donny Osmond's Painful 'Friends' Injury: The Stripper Episode's Hidden Drama
Gregory Jbara recalls the moment Donny Osmond took a nasty fall on the Pyramid set during Friends Season 10, Episode 11, and insisted on continuing despite a back injury.

Inspired by the Coen brothers' 1996 classic, Fargo delves into the dark underbelly of the American Midwest, weaving interconnected tales of crime, greed, and moral compromise. Each season features a fresh cast and standalone story, though subtle nods to the film—like the ransom money from the movie funding a supermarket empire—tie the universe together. Season 1 starred Martin Freeman as a hapless insurance salesman and Billy Bob Thornton as a chilling hitman; Season 2 followed Kirsten Dunst's ambitious beautician caught in a gang war; Season 3 featured Ewan McGregor in dual roles as feuding twins; and Season 4 centered on a fragile truce between crime syndicates, with Jessie Buckley as a psychotic nurse. The most recent season saw Juno Temple as a suburban mother whose past catches up with her, pursued by Jon Hamm's corrupt lawman.

Hawley's plate is far from empty. He's gearing up to film the second season of the sci-fi horror hit Alien: Earth this summer, adapting the video game Far Cry for television, and directing a remake of the Argentinian horror film Terrified. Yet Fargo remains a priority, and fans can stream all five seasons on Hulu while waiting for news.
