Netflix has done it again. The streaming giant's latest obsession-worthy series, Unchosen, has quietly become a late-night sensation, climbing to the top of the platform's global charts just days after its April 21 debut. The six-part British thriller is giving viewers a fresh reason to stay up past midnight, and the numbers prove it.

According to data from FlixPatrol, Unchosen has dethroned the soccer documentary Ronaldinho: The One and Only to become Netflix's most-watched series. The show's rapid ascent mirrors the success of earlier cult-themed hits like Trust Me: The False Prophet, but this time it's a scripted drama rather than a documentary. The question now is whether it can sustain its momentum in the weeks ahead.

Astarion Gets His Own Prequel Novel as Baldur's Gate 3 Expands into Books Ahead of HBO Series
A new line of Baldur's Gate 3 books is coming, headlined by a prequel starring fan-favorite vampire Astarion, as anticipation builds for HBO's live-action series.

What Is 'Unchosen' About?

Set in a secluded Christian community, Unchosen centers on Rosie (Molly Windsor), a young woman who has been raised to believe she is among God's chosen few. The cult's members call themselves the Chosen, while outsiders are dismissed as the Unchosen โ€” and any contact with them is strictly forbidden. Rosie's world is turned upside down when an escaped prisoner named Sam (Fra Fee) crashes into her life, shattering the illusion of safety and devotion she has always known.

As Rosie begins to question whether her community truly has her best interests at heart, she must also grapple with the fact that Sam may not be a trustworthy ally either. The series sets up a classic dilemma: jumping from the frying pan into the fire. Every choice Rosie makes could lead to salvation or destruction.

Will There Be a Season 2?

Creator Julie Greary originally conceived Unchosen as a self-contained story, and the six episodes do resolve the main conflicts. However, the finale leaves a door open for more โ€” especially given Sam's pivotal decision. Fra Fee, who plays Sam, told Collider's Maggie Lovitt ahead of the premiere that he's eager to continue the character's journey. "If it's a big success, you know they'll want to carry it on, and I think Julie probably has some ideas up her sleeve already," the Rebel Moon star said.

Whether a second season happens depends on Netflix's viewership data, with the first week's numbers expected to be released on Tuesday. The show's cast also includes Asa Butterfield, Siobhan Finneran, Christopher Eccleston, Alexa Davies, Olivia Pickering, and Rory Wilmot.
