LEGO is expanding its universe once again, this time diving into the world of dueling monsters. The toy giant has officially revealed the winner of its "Yu-Gi-Oh! It's Time to Duel" contest, giving fans a first look at what could become the first-ever official Yu-Gi-Oh! LEGO set.
The winning design, titled "The Heart of the Cards - Exodia" by builder Step_on_a_Brick, features the iconic monster Exodia the Forbidden One, along with two of the five cards needed to summon it, and a large figure of the franchise's hero, Yugi Muto. The build captures the essence of the anime and trading card game, blending nostalgia with creative brickwork.
This announcement comes through LEGO's Ideas program, which allows fans to submit original concepts that can be turned into official sets if they gain enough support. Past winners have included tributes to E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, Twilight, and The Office, proving that the program is a gateway for beloved franchises to join the LEGO family.
While the reveal is exciting, LEGO has not yet confirmed a release date or price for the set. Winning the contest doesn't guarantee a store shelf appearance, as LEGO often evaluates designs for feasibility and market appeal. However, the buzz around this announcement suggests strong fan interest.
This isn't LEGO's only foray into trading card game territory. The company has also launched a Pokémon-themed LEGO Ideas challenge, titled "Pokémon Trading Card Game Challenge: Build Your Card!" Fans were asked to create brick versions of specific Pokémon, and the top five finalists—Joltik, Mew, Arceus, Gyarados, and Rowlet—have been revealed. Voting ended on June 11, with the winner expected to be announced in February 2027.
