In AMC's darkly comedic tech thriller The Audacity, the glittering surface of Silicon Valley hides a mess of neuroses, ego, and barely contained chaos. A new exclusive clip from Episode 3, shared with ShowtimeSpot, dives headfirst into that chaos as therapist JoAnne Felder (Sarah Goldberg) faces off with one of her most volatile clients: Carl Bardolph, played with sweaty intensity by Zach Galifianakis.

The footage opens with JoAnne pulling up to Carl's house, where a sign on the door reads, 'Zero days since I stabbed someone.' Indeed, Carl has just stabbed his boss, Duncan Park (Billy Magnussen), in the face with a fork—not enough to cause serious harm, but enough to send the manic tech CEO into a full-blown panic. Carl, however, is less concerned about Duncan than about his own therapy progress going up in flames. He rants about his intrusive thoughts of shooting Duncan 'right between his sniveling little wormy eyes,' and JoAnne must work fast to calm him down and schedule a session.

Astarion Gets His Own Prequel Novel as Baldur's Gate 3 Expands into Books Ahead of HBO Series
A new line of Baldur's Gate 3 books is coming, headlined by a prequel starring fan-favorite vampire Astarion, as anticipation builds for HBO's live-action series.

But her troubles don't end there. As she tries to manage Carl's meltdown, her phone rings. It's her ex-husband, Ethan (Patrick Gilmore), who's calling to accuse her of lying about their son Orson's whereabouts. Their kid is missing from school, despite what her tracker says, and Ethan misinterprets her metaphors as personal digs. Suddenly, JoAnne is juggling two men who test her patience to the limit—one with a fork, the other with a grudge.

This scene highlights a central tension in The Audacity: while the show skewers the absurdity of tech billionaires and their outsized dreams, it's JoAnne who shoulders the real weight. She's a deeply flawed therapist who's very good at her job, cleaning up the messes of people like Duncan and Carl while struggling to keep her own life together. But her work with Duncan drags her into a scandal involving data exploitation, blackmail, and insider trading, tying her fate to a man who'll stop at nothing for profit and power.

The series, created by Emmy-winning Succession writer Jonathan Glatzer, marks AMC's ambitious return to prestige television. With a Certified Fresh 78% Rotten Tomatoes score, it's already dethroned Dark Winds on the platform's streaming charts. Collider's Shawn Van Horn praised Magnussen's performance as 'perfectly punchable' in a 7/10 review, writing, 'The Audacity isn't perfect, but the effort Magnussen gives nearly is.'

AMC has shown remarkable confidence in the show, renewing it for a second season before the premiere even aired. They even posted the entire first episode on TikTok in three-minute shorts to maximize exposure. The gamble seems to be paying off, as audiences and critics alike are tuning in for this blend of dark comedy and tech drama.
