After navigating the fungal-infested horrors of a post-apocalyptic America, Bella Ramsey is trading Clickers for conniving celebrities. The Last of Us star has officially joined the cast of BBC's Celebrity Traitors Season 2, a reality competition series that trades survival against the infected for psychological warfare in a Scottish castle.
Filmed at the atmospheric Ardross Castle in Scotland, the show brings together a mix of famous faces who must work together to build a prize pot while secretly identifying the 'Traitors' among them. Hosted by the ever-stylish Claudia Winkleman, the series has become a cultural phenomenon for its blend of strategy, deception, and dramatic reveals. Ramsey joins an already impressive lineup that includes Michael Sheen (Good Omens), Richard E. Grant (Can You Ever Forgive Me?), Myha'la (Industry), Maya Jama, Miranda Hart, James Blunt, Jerry Hall, Leigh-Anne Pinnock, Ross Kemp, Sebastian Croft (Heartstopper), and comedians James Acaster, Joe Lycett, Romesh Ranganathan, and Rob Beckett.
What This Means for The Last of Us Season 3
While Ramsey is diving into reality TV, fans can rest assured that their journey as Ellie Williams isn't over. The actor is expected to return for The Last of Us Season 3, though with a reduced role. As the upcoming season adapts Abby's perspective—played by Kaitlyn Dever—Ellie will appear more as an antagonist from Abby's point of view. Ramsey told Variety, “I haven’t seen any scripts, but yes, I do expect that. I think that I’m going to be there, but not a whole bunch. I sort of have a rough idea of what it’s going to be, but I can’t tell you.”
Ramsey also addressed the ongoing controversy surrounding the series, which has drawn criticism from some corners of the gaming community. Their response was characteristically direct: “You don’t have to watch it. If you hate it that much, the game exists. You can just play the game again. If you do want to watch it, hope you enjoy it.”
A Star-Studded Season of Betrayal
The Celebrity Traitors format has proven a hit for the BBC, blending the tension of a whodunit with the social dynamics of a reality competition. Season 2's cast is a mix of acting royalty, music icons, and beloved comedians, ensuring plenty of drama and unexpected alliances. For Ramsey, it's a chance to show a different side—one that's less about fighting for survival and more about mastering the art of deception.
For those who can't get enough of psychological thrillers, Mike Flanagan's The Haunting of Bly Manor offers a similarly eerie atmosphere, while The Faculty brings a 1990s horror twist to the theme of trust and betrayal.
The Celebrity Traitors Season 2 is expected to premiere later this year on BBC One and BBC iPlayer. In the U.S., the series streams on Peacock. Meanwhile, The Last of Us Season 3 is in development, with production details still under wraps.
