The Marvel Cinematic Universe is gearing up for one of its most anticipated films yet, Avengers: Doomsday, and fans are already buzzing about possible character pairings. One star who has a clear idea of what she'd love to see is Xochitl Gomez, who plays America Chavez in the MCU. In a recent chat with Collider, Gomez shared her dream crossover, and it involves a very specific New York City setting.

Gomez, who made her MCU debut in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (2022), hasn't been confirmed for Avengers: Doomsday, but given her character's ability to hop between realities, it's a safe bet she'll pop up somewhere in the Multiverse Saga's grand finale. When asked who she'd like America to team up with, Gomez didn't hesitate to name Florence Pugh's Yelena Belova.

"I think there are some really good storylines that could be seen there," Gomez told Collider. "I also, just personally, would love to work with Florence Pugh, and Yelena [Belova] is such a fun character. I think those two could have a fun interaction at some bagel shop on a corner in New York. I think that would be really funny."

The idea of America Chavez and Yelena Belova sharing a casual bagel break is delightfully unexpected, and it's exactly the kind of character-driven moment that fans have come to love in the MCU's more grounded scenes. Gomez's pitch also highlights the potential for humor and chemistry between two of the franchise's newer heroes.

While we wait to see if that bagel-shop meeting ever happens, Avengers: Doomsday is shaping up to be a massive ensemble piece. Robert Downey Jr. is set to return as Doctor Doom, and the cast includes a who's who of MCU veterans: Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Chris Evans as Steve Rogers, Anthony Mackie as Captain America, Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes, and Tom Hiddleston as Loki. The film will also feature the Fantastic Four, Shang-Chi, and the Thunderbolts, along with several X-Men alumni like Ian McKellen, Rebecca Romijn, Alan Cumming, and the late Patrick Stewart.

As for Gomez, she's currently promoting her new Cat in the Hat movie, but her comments about the MCU are sure to excite fans who are already speculating about Avengers: Doomsday. The film is expected to lead directly into Avengers: Secret Wars, scheduled for December 18, 2027.
