What Is 'The Stunt Driver' About?
Set in the mid-1970s, The Stunt Driver tells the incredible underdog story of Canada's Ken Carter, the world champion stunt driver who battles personal demons and public skepticism to attempt what everyone considers impossible—a mile-long jump across the St. Lawrence River in a rocket-powered car. The film also stars Ed Helms (The Office) as Dick Keller, the car's designer and technician, and Ben Foster as Evel Knievel. In the vein of Free Solo or Fitzcarraldo, this is a story about one man's singular, blinding passion to achieve the impossible, to finish what he started. What's both funny and tragic is that his mile-long jump, to anyone with two eyes, is completely impossible.
