AnnaSophia Robb has been on a remarkable streak lately. From her breakout role in Bridge to Terabithia to recent hits like Rebel Ridge and Overcompensating, she's now gearing up for the release of I Play Rocky. But it's her latest project, Supermax, that has her buzzing with excitement.
Supermax, announced last year as a Prime Video original, is directed by David Gordon Green, known for the Halloween reboot trilogy and collaborations with Danny McBride. The film is an action-packed crime thriller set inside the world's most secure prison, where a murder that should be impossible occurs. Robb stars alongside Will Smith, with Jason Clarke and Jaafar Jackson rounding out the cast.
In an interview at the SCAD Savannah Film Festival, Robb couldn't contain her enthusiasm for the project. "He's the best," she said of Green. "What drew me to that project? Will and David." The opportunity to work with such talent was a no-brainer, and the experience lived up to her expectations.
Robb plays an FBI agent in the film, a role she describes as a dream come true. "I get to play an FBI agent in an action movie in a David Gordon Green movie alongside Will Smith. I'm like, 'pinch me!' Every single day, I was like, 'This is crazy!'" She also praised Smith for his support, recalling his advice when she wrapped: "Just soak up every moment and be present and enjoy."
The actress teased that Supermax is "an absolute rocket ride," with escalating action as her character and Smith's investigate the prison murder. "Two FBI agents. There's a murder in a supermax prison, and we have to solve it. Then things go wild."
Green directed from a script by David Weil, creator of Hunters and co-creator of Citadel and Invasion. The project marks Green's return to television after helming episodes of The Righteous Gemstones and Scarpetta.
Supermax is currently in post-production, with a release expected on Prime Video in 2027. While fans wait, they can catch Robb in I Play Rocky, hitting theaters next month.
