For fans who thought they'd seen the last of Captain Seven of Nine on screen, think again. While the fate of a Star Trek: Legacy series remains uncertain, the former Borg drone turned Starfleet captain is getting a fresh adventure—this time in comic book form. IDW Publishing has announced a new ongoing Star Trek comic series that puts Seven of Nine front and center, launching on September 23.

Written by Christopher Cantwell with art by Dennis Menheere, the series picks up right where Star Trek: Picard left off. Seven of Nine, now commanding the USS Enterprise-G, leads her crew on a high-stakes mission beyond the known galaxy. Their goal: relocate the dying Avuran people to a mysterious region of space called the Epsilon Corridor. There, they discover three seemingly perfect Class-M planets known as the Trinity—worlds that appear untouched, but hold dark secrets.

From Until Dawn to Bioshock, these thriller video games deliver heart-pounding suspense and unforgettable stories. Here are the best of the genre, ranked.

A Psychological Thriller in Deep Space

IDW describes the first story arc as a "prestige, mystery-driven, high-stakes psychological thriller." The Trinity worlds are not what they seem. As Seven and her crew explore, they encounter vanished structures, inexplicable artifacts, time skips, and evidence of a presence that Starfleet's century-old probes never detected. Each planet has its own ecosystem and physics, as if curated—or quarantined—by an unknown force.

Joining Seven on this mission are familiar faces from Star Trek: Picard's final season: Jack Crusher and Sidney "Crash" La Forge. Their presence ensures the comic feels like a direct continuation of the Paramount+ series, even if a live-action follow-up remains in limbo. Cantwell has said the series aims to honor Star Trek's 60-year legacy while pushing forward into new territory. "In building a brand new Star Trek adventure, we seek to do just that: create something brand new," he noted.

Seven of Nine, portrayed by Jeri Ryan in Star Trek: Voyager and Star Trek: Picard, has become a cornerstone of the franchise's modern era. Her promotion to captain of the Enterprise-G at the end of Picard opened the door for stories like this—and fans have been eager for more. While the wait for a potential Star Trek: Legacy series continues, this comic offers a compelling bridge.
