When a streaming series becomes a breakout hit, the possibilities can seem endless. For Prime Video's The Terminal List, starring Chris Pratt, success didn't just mean a second season—it sparked an entire franchise. The action thriller, which premiered on July 1, 2022, has expanded into a shared universe that includes a prequel series and ambitious plans for the future.

Before Season 2 even went into production, Prime Video greenlit The Terminal List: Dark Wolf, a prequel that dropped on August 27, 2025. The show stars Taylor Kitsch as Ben Edwards, a former Navy SEAL turned CIA operative. It quickly became a hit with both fans and critics, cementing the franchise as one of the strongest action properties on TV. Apple TV+'s Silo season 3 trailer reveals a shocking twist: Juliette gets amnesia after surviving the decontamination chamber, a plotline not in the books. Here's how the series is rewriting its biggest story.

Why a Prequel Made Perfect Sense

While some fans were disappointed by the longer wait for Season 2, the prequel was a natural move—and one suggested by Pratt himself. As an executive producer, Pratt recognized the gap between seasons and wanted to keep the momentum going. "He was actually the one who realized, based on his schedule, that we were going to have a long time between Terminal List Season one and Season two," showrunner David DiGilio told The Hollywood Reporter in 2025. "So he didn't want the fans to be left waiting, and he was like, 'We should do Ben's story.'"

Narratively, the prequel also fit seamlessly. In Season 1, James Reece (Pratt) crosses Ben's name off his terminal list after discovering Ben helped orchestrate the assassination of their Navy SEAL platoon. Ben justified the betrayal as a mercy killing, but Reece couldn't forgive him. Dark Wolf takes viewers back in time to explore Ben's early CIA career and the events that led to his shocking betrayal.

What's Next for the Franchise

The franchise shows no signs of slowing down. On May 11, 2026, Pratt confirmed that Season 2 of The Terminal List will premiere on October 21, 2026. "I cannot wait for fans of the show to see it, for fans of the second book, True Believer, to see the book fully done on the screen," Pratt told Collider. "Get yourself ready, man, because I think we really elevated."

As for Dark Wolf, Season 2 hasn't been officially confirmed by Prime Video yet, but Kitsch has teased big plans. "We shine a brighter light into the darkness of service," he told Entertainment Weekly. "I love where we ended because we get way darker and I think you're finally gonna see Ben truly fall in season 2, which obviously goes toward Terminal List season 1 and why he makes the decisions he makes."

With two interconnected shows, each packed with action and stellar casts, Prime Video is building a massive franchise that fans can't get enough of.
