Day and Night Pikachu Cards
The newly revealed Pikachu ex cards come in separate day and night designs, created exclusively for the 30th Celebration Ultra-Premium Collections. These contrasting color palettes give the same Pokémon two distinct moods, with each card tied to a different collector's set. This is a redesign of Pikachu's card artwork, not a change to how the character appears in the games or anime.
According to Pokémon's announcement, YOSHIROTTEN also worked on the expansion's Futuristic Rare style, which features bold lighting, metallic textures, and graphic elements. The artist contributed Futuristic Rare cards for Mew ex and Mewtwo ex, as well as foil Basic Energy cards. The two Pikachu ex promos take this visual approach in different directions, offering collectors a choice between a brighter daytime look and a darker nighttime one.
Each Pikachu card appears in its corresponding Day or Night Ultra-Premium Collection. The Day collection pairs Pikachu ex with Espeon ex, while the Night collection pairs it with Umbreon ex, extending the theme beyond the mascot itself.
