Halloween movie marathons are about to get a new, blood-curdling addition. Vampire Carnival, a supernatural horror film starring Jason Isaacs, is officially set to hit VOD on October 30, giving fans a perfect pre-Halloween scare. And we've got an exclusive sneak peek that will make you think twice before stepping onto any carnival grounds.
The film centers on a young woman grappling with grief who stumbles upon a traveling carnival that mysteriously appears in her small town. The carnival promises an escape from her pain, but there's a sinister catch: the attraction is a gateway to a hidden world where vampires feed on human despair. As she's lured deeper into the illusion, she must confront the trauma she's been avoiding—or risk becoming a permanent part of the show.
Who's Behind the Carnival's Mask?
Jason Isaacs, known for his roles in Harry Potter and The White Lotus, brings his signature charm and menace to the film. He's joined by Nell Verlaque, who previously survived a Thanksgiving massacre in Eli Roth's Thanksgiving. The cast also includes Paulina Chávez (Landman), Kieron Moore (Vampire Academy), Eoin Macken, Alicia Sanz, and Cedrick Cooper.
Directors David Charbonier and Justin Douglas Powell, who previously crafted tense thrillers like The Boy Behind the Door and The Djinn, helm this eerie tale. They're working from a script by Jason Filardi and Peter Filardi, and their knack for trapping young protagonists in escalating danger is on full display here.
A Carnival That Feeds on Your Pain
The film's unique hook is its vampires' unusual appetite. Instead of just blood, they consume the very grief and sorrow that visitors hope to leave behind. It's a clever twist that turns a simple escape into a nightmare, and it's sure to resonate with anyone who's ever tried to outrun their problems.
