ShowtimeSpot has your exclusive first look at Caity, an emotionally charged indie drama that blends supernatural scares with a deeply personal story of addiction and family. The film, which will premiere at the Tribeca Festival next month, stars Morgan Spector (The Gilded Age) and Chiara Aurelia (Cruel Summer) as a father and daughter struggling to keep their lives—and their family business—together.

In Caity, Spector plays Paul, a charming and charismatic single father who is newly sober. Aurelia plays his teenage daughter, Caity, who is grappling with her own emerging sexuality and the instability of her home life. Together, they run a haunted house attraction in upstate New York. But when Paul suffers a relapse, Caity must cover for him, pretending everything is normal while trying to keep the business afloat. As she soon discovers, some ghosts are harder to banish than the plastic ones in the funhouse.

A Stellar Ensemble Cast

Joining Spector and Aurelia is a talented ensemble that includes Zach Cherry (Severance), who brings his Emmy-nominated charm to the screen. Cherry, also known for hosting The Great American Baking Show, plays a key role in the film. The cast also features Michelle Mao (Bridgerton season four, upcoming The Last of Us season three), Jordan Hull (The L Word: Generation Q), Andrea Bianchi (Only Murders in the Building), Emily Shaffer (How to Make It in America), Christian Lees (Pistol), Jonah Lees (Blue Moon), and Olivia Rouyre (Pluribus).

Spector, who currently commands the screen as patriarch George Russell on HBO's The Gilded Age, and recently appeared in Netflix's Black Rabbit, brings a raw vulnerability to the role of Paul. Aurelia, who started as a child actor in films like Gerald's Game and later starred in Tell Me Your Secrets and Hysteria!, delivers a breakout performance as the resilient Caity.

A Personal Story from a Debut Director

Caity marks the feature debut of writer-director Lindsay Calleran, who drew from their own experiences with a parent's addiction and their queer identity. The film was made in the wake of Calleran's father's death, which occurred shortly before production began. This deeply personal foundation gives the story an authentic emotional weight that elevates it beyond a typical haunted house thriller.

The film is produced by Mary Elizabeth Monda, Malcolm Thorndike Nicholson, and Alexandra Leinweber, with Scott Aharoni serving as executive producer.

Tribeca Premiere Details

Caity will screen as part of the US Narrative Competition at the Tribeca Festival. Catch it at the historic Village East by Angelika movie theater on Sunday, June 7th at 8:30 p.m., Monday, June 8th at 5:15 p.m., and Thursday, June 11th at 3:15 p.m.
