The Sons of Anarchy crew is gearing up for an unexpected return to the small screen. Nearly a decade after the series wrapped its seven-season run, the core cast is reuniting for a new limited series that promises to blur the lines between fiction and reality. Titled Legends, the project is in development at FX and Hulu, the same networks that brought the original biker drama to life.

Created by Kurt Sutter, Sons of Anarchy followed the exploits of an outlaw motorcycle club in the fictional town of Charming, California. The show centered on Jax Teller (Charlie Hunnam), the heir to the club's presidency, whose father was one of its founders. His mother, Gemma (Katey Sagal), had remarried the club's current president, Clay Morrow (Ron Perlman), but dark secrets about Jax's father's death soon ignite a power struggle that spirals into all-out war with rival gangs, law enforcement, and even the federal government.

Zoe Saldaña's Chilling 'Rosemary's Baby' Remake Now Free on Tubi
The 2014 miniseries remake of 'Rosemary's Baby' updates the horror classic with Zoe Saldaña, shifting to Paris and adding modern thrills. Now free on Tubi.

Now, the entire gang is back for Legends, a meta-thriller that sees the actors playing themselves. The premise: the cast reunites at a convention to commemorate the show, only to find themselves caught up in a real-life conspiracy that dwarfs anything they faced on screen. It's a clever twist that turns the show's legacy into a playground for new storytelling.

The series was conceived by Hunnam himself, who also co-created it with actor Jonathan Groff, known for his work in Mindhunters. This marks Hunnam's first project for FX since Sons of Anarchy ended in 2014. He recently earned critical praise for his portrayal of serial killer Ed Gein in Ryan Murphy's Monster anthology.

Joining Hunnam, Sagal, and Perlman are original series regulars Maggie Siff, Mark Boone Junior, Tommy Flanagan, Kim Coates, and Theo Rossi. The ensemble will be backed by executive producers Rob Mac, Nicholas Frenkel, and Jackie Cohn.

FX's President of Entertainment, Nick Grad, described Legends as "an adventure that is both a love letter to the series and a fun meta twist on what fans think they know." The project is currently in development, with no release date announced yet.

For fans of the original show, this is a thrilling prospect. The Sons of Anarchy universe has already expanded once with the spinoff Mayans M.C., but Legends promises something entirely different. It's a chance to see these beloved actors step outside their iconic roles while still honoring the world that made them famous.
