Peacock's hit video game adaptation Twisted Metal is revving up for its third season with a major addition: Mark Hamill. The Emmy-winning actor, best known as Luke Skywalker in Star Wars, will join the post-apocalyptic series in a recurring role, playing Pope Charlie Kane, the leader of the Eastern Sovereignty and the estranged father of the murderous clown Sweet Tooth (Joe Seanoa, voiced by Will Arnett).
Hamill's casting marks a significant expansion of the show's mythology, which is based on the iconic Sony Interactive Entertainment franchise. The series, set in the Divided States of America, follows John Doe (Anthony Mackie), a talkative delivery driver who must transport a mysterious package across a dangerous wasteland. Alongside the ax-wielding car thief Quiet (Stephanie Beatriz), he faces savage marauders and the deranged Sweet Tooth.
Season 2 saw John and Quiet enter the deadly Twisted Metal tournament, a sinister demolition derby hosted by the enigmatic Calypso (Anthony Carrigan). The season also introduced John's long-lost sister, the vigilante Dollface (Tiana Okoye). The 12-episode season, which aired from July 31 to August 28, 2025, amassed 993 million minutes viewed on Peacock, making it the platform's second-highest-reaching original returning scripted season.
Hamill's recent credits include starring opposite Tom Hiddleston in Mike Flanagan's Stephen King adaptation The Life of Chuck for Neon, as well as another King adaptation, The Long Walk. He also lent his voice to Universal's Oscar-nominated The Wild Robot and Paramount's SpongeBob: Search for SquarePants.
As of now, Twisted Metal Season 3 does not have a return date, and plot details remain under wraps. The series was renewed for a third season in November 2024, seven months after its Season 2 premiere. Fans can stream the first two seasons on Peacock while waiting for more updates.
