KJ Apa trades his Riverdale letterman jacket for a pilot's uniform in the gripping new trailer for Jimmy, a biopic that chronicles the life of one of Hollywood's most beloved icons, Jimmy Stewart. The film, hitting theaters on November 6, promises a deeply personal look at Stewart's journey from Golden Age superstar to decorated WWII pilot and back to the screen for his most famous role.

The trailer opens with Stewart at the peak of his fame, but the shadow of World War II looms large. Determined to serve, Stewart faces opposition from studio boss Louis B. Mayer (played by Jason Alexander) and even his military superior (Rob Riggle), who fear losing the star to combat. But Stewart persists, enlisting as an Air Force pilot. The war takes a heavy toll, leaving him adrift in peacetime—until director Frank Capra (Max Casella) approaches him with the script for It's a Wonderful Life. Stewart's initial reluctance gives way to a decision that would define his legacy.

From Barbie to Dune: Part Two, these 10 universally adored films from the last six years have left an indelible mark on cinema. Discover why they're masterpieces.

The cast is stacked with familiar faces: Sarah Drew plays gossip columnist Hedda Hopper, Jen Lilley portrays Stewart's wife Gloria, and Neal McDonough takes on the role of his father, Alexander. Jemma Donovan and Christopher McDonald appear as co-stars Ginger Rogers and Lionel Barrymore, while Julian Works and Kara Killmer round out the ensemble. In a touching nod to the original film, Karolyn Grimes—who played Stewart's daughter in It's a Wonderful Life—makes a cameo appearance.

Directed by Aaron Burns from a script by Justin Strawhand, Jimmy is a production of Burns & Co. Entertainment, distributed by Fathom Entertainment. The film arrives on what would have been Stewart's 118th birthday, a day declared Jimmy Stewart Day by Pennsylvania. To mark the occasion, director Burns and Stewart's daughter Kelly Stewart-Harcourt, an executive producer on the film, opened a new exhibit at the Jimmy Stewart Museum in Indiana, Pennsylvania.

In a heartwarming gesture, Papaian Studios and Commerce Casino donated $1 million to Vet Tix, a nonprofit that provides free tickets to U.S. servicemen and their families for the film's November release. It's a fitting tribute to a man who embodied service and storytelling.
