Harlan Coben has built a reputation for crafting twisty, emotional thrillers that keep audiences glued to their screens. With over a dozen adaptations on streaming platforms—most on Netflix—his latest entry, I Will Find You, is now streaming. But early reviews suggest this one is splitting opinion more than usual.

The series, starring Sam Worthington (Avatar) as David, follows a father who has been imprisoned for the murder of his own son. But his sister-in-law Rachel (Britt Lower), an investigative journalist, never believed he was guilty. When she uncovers evidence that the boy might still be alive, David breaks out of prison to find him, racing against shadowy organizations and law enforcement.

On Rotten Tomatoes, I Will Find You currently holds a 71% score—a middling rating that signals a divisive reception. While not Coben's worst-reviewed show, it's his lowest-rated this year, especially compared to hits like Run Away. Critics are calling it familiar, but not necessarily in a good way.

Collider's Taylor Gates noted that the show's biggest flaw is its characters, who feel like recycled archetypes from countless other thrillers. "There is ultimately a genericness that permeates, leaning into tropes and archetypes—the persistent reporter, the shady benefactor, the rogue cop—instead of creating more well-rounded, fleshed-out individuals," she wrote in her review.

Other critics echoed similar sentiments. ScreenRant's Cher Thompson acknowledged the show's weaknesses but praised its mystery, saying it "makes a concerted effort to ensure that its mystery makes sense and comes to a satisfying conclusion." Meanwhile, Nick Schager of The Daily Beast compared the series to junk food that "makes viewers crave additional servings (no matter how bad they feel afterward)."

Despite the mixed critical response, I Will Find You is likely to find an audience among Coben's loyal fanbase. The author's shows consistently land in Netflix's top ten after release, and this one is no exception. For those who enjoy a fast-paced, twist-filled mystery, it might still hit the spot.
