Director Louis Leterrier has been keeping busy while the Fast & Furious franchise gears up for its final ride. With the eleventh installment still in the early stages—Vin Diesel has been teasing updates on Instagram—Leterrier found time to helm two feature films. One of them, The Last House, is now officially set to premiere on Netflix in August 2026.

Starring Greta Lee (the breakout from Past Lives) and Wagner Moura (fresh off his Oscar-nominated turn in The Secret Agent), The Last House is a sci-fi thriller that traps a family inside their home as an unknown menace lurks outside. Think The Mist meets a domestic drama, but with a Netflix-sized budget and a director known for high-octane action.

What to Expect from 'The Last House'

The plot centers on a couple and their children, barricaded in their house while a mysterious threat keeps them from leaving. It's a premise that blends psychological tension with survival horror, and Leterrier is no stranger to genre-blending. He previously directed Netflix's Lupin and The Takedown, and he also helmed the fantasy series The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance for the streamer.

Lee has been on a roll since her Past Lives breakthrough. She appeared in Tron: Ares and the acclaimed Apple TV+ comedy The Studio, and she voiced a villain in Pixar's Toy Story 5, which crossed $1 billion worldwide. Moura, best known for Narcos, earned his first Best Actor Oscar nomination for The Secret Agent in 2025 and recently voiced a character in the Disney+ animated series Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord.

Release Date and More

The Last House will be available to stream on Netflix starting August 7, 2026. That's the same month that Matt Damon's Elysium lands on Netflix, so sci-fi fans will have plenty to binge.

Leterrier is still attached to direct the final Fast & Furious movie, which Diesel recently confirmed has a finished script. But for now, audiences can look forward to this standalone thriller that promises to be a tense, star-driven ride.
