The Wizarding World is expanding its audio horizons, and this time, a familiar face from the Marvel Cinematic Universe is stepping into the shoes of the Dark Lord. Daniel Brühl, best known for his chilling portrayal of Baron Zemo in the MCU, has been officially cast as Lord Voldemort in the German edition of Harry Potter: The Full-Cast Audiobooks. This new production promises to bring a fresh, immersive take on J.K. Rowling's beloved series, with Brühl lending his voice to one of literature's most iconic villains.

The audiobooks will adapt all seven original novels, starting with Harry Potter und der Stein der Weisen (Philosopher's Stone) on November 10, 2026. Following that, the remaining six books will be released monthly, giving fans a steady dose of magic. This German-language project is separate from Audible's English full-cast editions, which concluded in May 2026 with Deathly Hallows. The German version boasts over 150 voice actors and has already logged more than 2,000 hours of recording. It will feature Dolby Atmos sound design, original music, a bespoke score, and real-world sound effects, aiming to create an unparalleled listening experience.

Who Else Is in the Cast?

The full-cast lineup is stacked with talent. Abak Safaei-Rad serves as the narrator, while Nina Hoss (Tár) takes on Professor McGonagall, Armin Rohde (Run Lola Run) voices Rubeus Hagrid, Falilou Seck portrays Albus Dumbledore, and Robert Stadlober plays Severus Snape. Matthias Matschke voices Professor Quirrell, and Felix von Manteuffel, one of the original narrators of the German audiobooks, returns as Garrick Ollivander.

The Golden Trio will be portrayed by two different sets of actors over the series. For the first three books, Niklas Ulonska voices Harry Potter, Ayla Uluçam plays Hermione Granger, and Anton Schnermann takes on Ron Weasley. They are joined by Moritz Frickel as young Draco Malfoy, Eliot Neudeck as young Neville Longbottom, and Ella Reithmeier as young Ginny Weasley.

This casting news comes as fans eagerly await the upcoming HBO series adaptation of Harry Potter, which has been shrouded in secrecy regarding its Voldemort. A-list names like Paul Bettany and Cillian Murphy have distanced themselves from the role, leaving the door open for speculation. However, with Voldemort appearing in Philosopher's Stone, we may learn the HBO casting sooner rather than later.

For those who love the illustrated side of the Wizarding World, Hagrid and Dobby Get Their Own Illustrated 'Harry Potter' Pocket Potters in August 2026 offers a charming collectible. Meanwhile, the success of the HBO series will hinge on finding the perfect young actors, as HBO's Harry Potter Series Must Perfect the Golden Trio to Succeed.

Daniel Brühl's turn as Voldemort is a fascinating choice, given his history of playing complex antagonists. In the MCU, he brought depth to Baron Zemo, a villain driven by personal tragedy. It will be interesting to see how he channels that into the cold, calculating evil of He Who Must Not Be Named. For fans of Brühl's Marvel work, Daniel Brühl's Baron Zemo Returns in New Marvel Promo with Comic-Accurate Purple Costume is a must-read.

Harry Potter und der Stein der Weisen arrives on Audible on November 10, 2026. Mark your calendars, because the Dark Lord is rising—in German.
