Jon Hamm has been on a roll lately. After his standout turn in Taylor Sheridan's Landman and the Apple TV+ hit Your Friends and Neighbors, he's now front and center in American Hostage, a gritty legal thriller that's been gripping audiences on MGM+. The show, which premiered with two episodes on September 20, has been rolling out weekly, and now we've got an exclusive first look at what's coming in Episode 5.
For those who've been missing The Lincoln Lawyer and need a dose of courtroom tension, American Hostage is the perfect fix. It's based on the acclaimed first season of the scripted podcast of the same name, and it's inspired by the harrowing true story of Fred Heckman, a beloved Indianapolis radio reporter who gets caught in a life-or-death standoff. The twist? The hostage-taker, Tony Kiritsis, demands to be interviewed live on Heckman's radio show.
The series boasts a stellar cast, including Hamm, Giovanni Ribisi, Kristoffer Polaha, William Jackson Harper, Mireille Enos, Mark McKinney, and Kat Cunning. The show was created by Shawn Ryan, the mind behind The Shield and The Night Agent, so you know the writing is sharp and the tension is high.
In this exclusive sneak peek for Episode 5, we see Ribisi and Polaha in a heated exchange that promises to raise the stakes even higher. The chemistry between the two actors is electric, and it's clear that the pressure is mounting for everyone involved. If you've been following along, you won't want to miss this.
Hamm's career has been on an upward trajectory since his Mad Men days, and he's shown no signs of slowing down. He recently wrapped up Landman Season 1, and while he won't be back for Season 3 (Michael Kelly is stepping in), he's got plenty on his plate. Your Friends and Neighbors is set to return for Season 3 on Apple TV+ next year, and he's also been linked to other projects. But for now, all eyes are on American Hostage.
New episodes of American Hostage drop every week on MGM+, with the Season 1 finale scheduled for November 1. Episode 5 airs on October 11, and if this sneak peek is any indication, it's going to be a wild ride. Stay tuned to Collider for more updates on Jon Hamm's future projects and all your favorite shows.
