Peter Krause is back on NBC, and he's not wasting any time making his presence felt. After eight seasons as Captain Bobby Nash on ABC's 9-1-1, the actor has returned to the network where his TV career began—first with Carol & Company in 1990 and later with the beloved Parenthood. Now, he's leading a new kind of family drama in Line of Fire, a crime thriller that's already turning heads.
In the series, Krause plays Mike Hollingsworth, a Deputy Special Agent in Charge for the U.S. Secret Service. He's part of a sprawling, messy family of law enforcement professionals who work across the FBI, U.S. Marshals, and the Department of Justice. Their personalities clash at home and on the job, but when a routine case spirals into a conspiracy that threatens them all, they must combine their expertise to survive. Family drama? Absolutely. But also high-stakes action.
Collider has an exclusive sneak peek at Episode 3, titled "There Are Two Wolves." The clip finds Mike's son Micah (Tommy O'Brien) and his fellow Secret Service agents enjoying a break when a security breach alarm sounds. They spring into action, shutting down elevators and checking doors as they head to the stairwell where an intruder has been reported. But when they open the door, they find Mike sitting on the stairs, stopwatch in hand. Their response time? Not up to his standards.
Mike isn't impressed with the team's reliance on technology, and he makes it clear they need to get back to basics—especially fitness training. It's a pointed critique that underscores why Micah is so eager for his father to retire. The tension between them is palpable, and it's a reminder that in the Hollingsworth family, even a simple drill can become a battlefield.
But Episode 3 has more than just father-son friction. While Mike is putting the agents through their paces, Clare (Kat Cunning) and Russ (Taylor Bloom) are racing to uncover a grand jury tampering case. Meanwhile, Jane (Hope Davis) digs into the larger mystery, searching for files related to the murdered agents. Her efforts put her at odds with Department of Homeland Security detective Nia Wallace (Antoinette Crowe-Legacy), straining her relationships even further. Charlie Barnett rounds out the cast as veteran Jack Hollingsworth.
Line of Fire comes from creator Joshua Safran, and it's already making a splash. The premiere drew 8.6 million viewers, a 48% boost over NBC's Monday night slot last season. Critics have been kind, with an 85% score on Rotten Tomatoes. Collider's Therese Lacson praised it as "a twist on par with The Blacklist that makes the show worth tuning back into," giving it a 7/10 in her review.
If you're a fan of thriller TV shows, this one is definitely worth your attention. And for those who've been following law enforcement dramas, Line of Fire offers a fresh take on family dynamics within the justice system.
