Ten years after their landmark run on Marvel's The Vision, writer Tom King and artist Gabriel Hernández Walta are back together — and they're trading superheroes for Hollywood secrets. Their new project, Six of Us, is a gritty noir mystery set against the backdrop of a beloved sitcom, and ShowtimeSpot has an exclusive first look at the opening pages.

The series, published by Dark Horse Comics, follows the cast of a Friends-like show whose lives unravel years after the final episode. When one of the six stars dies under suspicious circumstances, the surviving castmates are forced to confront buried resentments, hidden affairs, and the dark price of fame. The first issue opens with a signature nine-panel grid — a hallmark of King's storytelling — before expanding into a haunting double-page spread of the funeral, narrated by the deceased from beyond the grave.

Reuniting the Vision Team

King and Walta aren't the only familiar faces returning. Colorist Jordie Bellaire and letterer Clayton Cowles, both key contributors to The Vision, are back to complete the creative lineup. The first issue also boasts variant covers from an all-star roster including Fabio Moon, Elsa Charretier, Jorge Fornes, Raul Alen, and Tula Lotay.

King, a former CIA officer turned Eisner-winning writer, has built a reputation for deconstructing iconic characters at DC Comics — from Batman and Mister Miracle to his current Wonder Woman run. He's also the co-creator of HBO Max's upcoming Lanterns series and the architect behind this summer's Supergirl movie, which adapts his Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow maxi-series. Meanwhile, Walta, a Spanish artist known for his work on Hellboy, X-Men, and Magneto, returns to sequential comics for the first time in four years.

A Darker Side of Sitcom Fame

For fans of psychological thrillers, Six of Us promises the same tense, character-driven drama that made The Vision a modern classic. The series explores how a sunny TV show can mask a storm of jealousy, addiction, and betrayal — themes that resonate in our celebrity-obsessed culture. Dark Horse is also rolling out other noir-tinged titles this fall, including The Big Shakedown, a sci-fi detective story set in a future earthquake-ravaged Los Angeles. For a deeper dive into that series, see our Exclusive: Dark Horse's 'The Big Shakedown' Brings Sci-Fi Noir to Post-Quake LA.
