Disney animated films captivate us with vibrant worlds and unforgettable characters. We cheer for the heroes, but it's the villains who truly steal the show—they're just so delightfully wicked. With a new Villains Land coming to Magic Kingdom, our love for these rogues is stronger than ever. Today, we celebrate the baddies who know how to work a room.
Not all Disney villains are created equal. Some are purely sinister, others diabolical. But the cream of the crop possess an irresistible charm that almost lets them win. These characters can sing a song, flash a smile, and get away with murder—literally. From conning a nephew into believing he caused his father's death to wooing a princess until a kingdom freezes over, these villains are notoriously bad yet endlessly charismatic.
10. Dawn Bellwether
In Zootopia, Dawn Bellwether (voiced by Jenny Slate) proves that cute and cuddly doesn't equal good. As the assistant mayor, she's a soft-spoken sheep who seems overworked and underappreciated. But beneath that harmless exterior lurks a manipulative mastermind who orchestrates a conspiracy to make predators go savage, all to seize political power. Dawn's charm lies in subverting expectations—she's a wolf in sheep's clothing. Her meek demeanor and sweet words hide a power-hungry schemer, making her twist one of Disney's most surprising. Thanks to her, we'll never trust a fluffy critter again.
9. Scar
If there's a Mount Rushmore of Disney villains, Scar (The Lion King) is grinning down from it. Voiced by Jeremy Irons, Scar is the envious brother of Mufasa, and his charm comes from theatricality, razor-sharp wit, and magnetic arrogance. He sees the world as his chessboard, rallying hyenas to do his bidding and orchestrating the most horrific parent-related homicide since Bambi. Worse, he effortlessly convinces his nephew Simba that his father's death was his fault. Scar's confidence makes his coup flawless—he never shows remorse or sweat. His intellect and ambition, born from living in his brother's shadow, make him dangerously compelling. As he sings in "Be Prepared," his uprising feels like justice long denied.
8. Mother Gothel
Mother Gothel from Tangled is a psychological villain. Voiced by Donna Murphy, she doesn't rely on magic or brute force—she uses emotional manipulation and a veneer of affection to keep Rapunzel locked away. Her song "Mother Knows Best" is a masterclass in gaslighting, wrapping control in a sweet melody. Gothel's charisma is so potent that she almost convinces Rapunzel the outside world is dangerous. She's the kind of villain who makes you question your own instincts, and that's what makes her so chillingly charming.
These villains remind us that evil can be seductive. Whether it's Dawn's deceptive sweetness, Scar's theatrical arrogance, or Gothel's manipulative love, their charm is what makes them unforgettable.
