Taylor Sheridan's sprawling Western empire is saddling up for a new frontier: video games. Paramount Games Studios, the newly formed gaming division of Paramount, has announced plans to adapt Yellowstone and several of Sheridan's other hit series into interactive experiences. The news broke during Summer Game Fest, signaling a major expansion of the so-called Sheridanverse beyond television.
The flagship series, which concluded its five-season run on Paramount Network in December 2024, follows the Dutton family as they fight to protect their massive Montana cattle ranch. Since then, the franchise has grown to include five series, including the current hit Dutton Ranch, which premiered on Paramount+ in May 2026 and is now the most-watched Western on TV. Starring Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser as Beth Dutton and Rip Wheeler, the spin-off follows the couple as they start anew in South Texas.
But the Sheridanverse isn't stopping at the small screen. In an interview with Polygon, Shawn Kittelsen, head of creative and production at Paramount Games Studios, revealed that the studio is prioritizing games based on Sheridan's shows. "All of the Yellowstone and Yellowstone-adjacent titles, Landman, Tulsa King, these are all priorities for us," Kittelsen said. He also confirmed plans for a Lioness game, ahead of the spy thriller's third season this summer. Lioness, starring Zoe Saldaña, follows a CIA team that deploys female operatives on dangerous undercover missions.
Paramount Games Studios is taking a careful approach to development. The division is also working with PlatinumGames on Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin and has plans for Star Trek, Avatar: The Last Airbender, and SpongeBob SquarePants adaptations. But for Sheridan's properties, the goal is to find the right partners who have a proven track record. "If we build pillar by pillar, find the right partners, and make the right games for the audience, I think we can achieve massive success," Kittelsen explained. "Everything has to come from that player-first, fan-first perspective. We're being much more selective about our partners because everything that we do, we don't want to just spray and pray. Like we always say: we want missiles, not bullets."
This commitment to quality means fans shouldn't expect rushed releases. Paramount is prioritizing top-tier experiences that honor the source material. The studio's strategy echoes the careful expansion seen in other franchises, such as Prime Video's 'The Terminal List', which grew into a full-blown action franchise through measured steps.
For now, viewers can catch up on the latest Sheridanverse entry, Dutton Ranch, which streams on Paramount+ and will conclude its nine-episode season in July. The show has already become a cultural phenomenon, proving that the appetite for Sheridan's brand of rugged, character-driven drama remains strong. As for the games, details are scarce, but the promise of a Yellowstone video game opens up exciting possibilities—whether it's ranching simulation, open-world exploration of Montana, or a narrative-driven adventure.
The announcement also highlights the growing trend of TV-to-game adaptations, following successes like Netflix's 'Cyberpunk: Edgerunners', which expanded the game's world into a critically acclaimed anime. With Sheridan's rich universe of morally complex characters and high-stakes drama, a video game could be the perfect next step.
As the Sheridanverse continues to grow, fans can also explore other corners of the franchise, such as 'Lawmen: Bass Reeves', which recently rode into Netflix's global top 10. And for those who want to test their knowledge, ShowtimeSpot has a quiz to determine which Taylor Sheridan show you belong in—whether it's Yellowstone, Landman, Tulsa King, or Mayor of Kingstown.
Paramount Games Studios has yet to announce a release window or developer for the Yellowstone game, but with the Sheridanverse's track record, fans have reason to be optimistic. The Dutton family's next chapter might just be playable.
