Since her debut on Disney+, Jennifer Walters—aka She-Hulk—has been one of the MCU's most talked-about characters. Between the passionate fan debates, the meta finale, and the constant speculation about a second season, the green lawyer has never really left the conversation. Now, Tatiana Maslany, the actress who brought her to life, has finally shared what it would take to get her back in the suit.
Speaking on The Playlist's Bingeworthy podcast while promoting her new Apple TV+ series Maximum Pleasure Guaranteed, Maslany didn't hold back. She joked about the potential backlash, saying, “I think people would be so mad at me being on their screens again.” But then she got serious about what matters most: the creative vision behind the character.
“What I think is so special about the character is Jessica Gao’s writing and the tone that she brought to the show,” Maslany explained. “I think if She-Hulk were to be in an ensemble, that tone has to be honored.” For Maslany, any future MCU appearance would need someone who truly understands Jennifer Walters’ voice—especially if Marvel wants to weave her into a larger team-up.
Marvel TV boss Brad Winderbaum recently pushed back against the idea that the show was a failure, calling it one of Marvel’s best-performing Disney+ series and noting it reached a broad general audience despite negative online chatter. He also said he would “love to make more,” though no second season has been officially announced.
Maslany elaborated on why the show’s unique format is so important. “There is something about She-Hulk being the star of her own show that makes sense,” she said. “Because of the direct address, she is our narrator. So, I think it would be a real cool challenge to see her in some other context, but I do think the sort of joy of She-Hulk is in the singularness of it.”
For fans hoping to see the character pop up in an upcoming crossover like Avengers: Secret Wars or Captain America: Brave New World, Maslany’s message is clear: it’s not a simple yes or no. It’s about finding the right creative partner. “It would take somebody like Jessica Gao to weave her into that world because she knows that character so deeply and loves her and gets her tone,” Maslany said.
The cast of She-Hulk: Attorney at Law also included Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner, Jameela Jamil as Titania, Ginger Gonzaga as Nikki Ramos, Josh Segarra as Pug, Renée Elise Goldsberry as Mallory Book, Tim Roth as Abomination, and Charlie Cox as Daredevil. The series is currently streaming on Disney+.
While Marvel has yet to confirm a second season or a specific crossover appearance, Maslany’s comments suggest that if and when She-Hulk returns, it will be on her own terms—with the same sharp, self-aware humor that made the show a standout. For now, fans can revisit the first season and keep an eye on what Jessica Gao does next.
