Nearly 20 years after The Big Bang Theory first premiered, the franchise is taking its boldest leap yet. Stuart Fails to Save the Universe, the upcoming sci-fi action spin-off centered on comic book store owner Stuart Bloom (Kevin Sussman), debuted its first official trailer at CCXP Mexico, and it promises a bonkers multiversal ride far removed from the sitcom's Pasadena living room.

The series follows Stuart after he accidentally destroys a powerful device built by Sheldon (Jim Parsons) and Leonard (Johnny Galecki), triggering a multiverse Armageddon. To save all of reality, he must embark on a chaotic journey alongside his girlfriend Denise (Lauren Lapkus), geologist Bert (Brian Posehn), and Sheldon's rival Barry Kripke (John Ross Bowie). The exclusive trailer footage shows the group as prisoners of an alternate-universe Kripke, who has become the Grand Caliph of Pasadena, ruling with an iron fist and mocking Stuart's attempts to fix things.

The Decade's Best Crime Shows: A Year-by-Year Guide to the 2010s
From Sherlock to Barry, the 2010s delivered a crime drama masterpiece every year. Here's our pick for the best new crime series that debuted each year of the decade.

Described by the cast as “four really incompetent Doctor Whos,” the show leans heavily into sci-fi action, complete with stunts, CGI, and a new theme song by Danny Elfman. It also marks a departure for co-creator Chuck Lorre, known for traditional sitcoms like Two and a Half Men and Young Sheldon. Here, he teams up with The Avengers co-writer Zak Penn to deliver a more cinematic experience.

The trailer teases multiple alternate universes, including a world where the gang is nearly burned at the stake, and hints at appearances from original Big Bang Theory stars. While Warner Bros. Television CEO Channing Dungey has emphasized that the spin-off will focus on Sussman and his new dynamics, the multiverse premise opens the door for cameos from Parsons, Galecki, Kaley Cuoco, Simon Helberg, and Kunal Nayyar.

One of the biggest surprises? The show will feature cursing—something the original series never did. John Ross Bowie revealed that fans can expect a very foul-mouthed Barry Kripke, adding a new edge to the humor. The series also introduces new characters played by Ryan Cartwright, Josh Brener, and Tommy Walker, the latter of whom plays Denise's jaw-dropping new boyfriend.
