Marvel's Spidey and His Amazing Friends is back for a fifth season, and this time, the web-slinging trio has a gooey new problem to deal with. The premiere, which dropped today on Disney Jr. and Disney+, introduces a mischievous little symbiote named Symbie, who's causing chaos with his devious Slime Factory. In an exclusive sneak peek shared by Collider, we see Spider-Man, Ghost-Spider, and Spin racing to stop Symbie from flooding the city with slime.
The clip, from the episode titled "Lights, Sirens, Action/Symbie’s Slimy Scheme," kicks off with Gwen calling Peter to report that she and Miles have tracked down the shape-shifting symbiote baby. Spidey hops into the Rescue-Webs Firetruck—a new vehicle that combines Spider-Man's abilities with firefighting gear—and speeds to the Slime Factory. Meanwhile, his pals try to shut down Symbie's machine before it overflows and covers the playground in slime. But Symbie proves to be a tricky little scamp, snatching the power button and hopping through portals to evade capture. With the slime tank rising fast, Team Spidey must think on their feet to save the day.
Symbie isn't just a one-off villain; executive producer Harrison Wilcox describes him as a recurring troublemaker who will keep the young heroes on their toes throughout the season. "He's a little scamp," Wilcox says, hinting at more slimy schemes to come. Marvel and Disney+ are giving Symbie a massive rollout, including a special comic book for Comic Book Giveaway Day titled Marvel’s Spidey and his Amazing Friends #1 CGD 2026, written by Season 5 staff writer Danielle Kreger. On July 8, Marvel Comics also released It’s Symbie #1, a compilation of the character's comic appearances to promote his on-screen debut. A new Hasbro playset featuring Symbie's Slime Factory is now available at Walmart, and Fall Out Boy's Patrick Stump has dropped a new single called "Meet Symbie" to welcome the character.
But Symbie isn't the only challenge in Season 5. In the first half of the premiere, the villain Zola steals Team Spidey's Firetruck, only to discover that being a hero is harder than it looks. The season promises a mix of new problems and valuable lessons for Peter, Miles, and Gwen as they work together. Familiar faces from the Marvel universe are also swinging by, including Rocket Raccoon, Groot, and Mr. Fantastic—voiced by Mario Lopez—making their first appearances in the series. With a sixth season already confirmed, the adventures are far from over.
