Paramount+'s underrated medical drama SkyMed is soaring back for a fourth season, and we've got an exclusive sneak peek at what's in store. The series, which follows the pilots and nurses of an air ambulance service in the remote wilds of northern Manitoba, returns on May 21 with new faces, old flames, and plenty of high-stakes emergencies.
In our exclusive clip, Nurse Hayley Roberts (Natasha Callis) and chief pilot William "Wheezer" Heaseman (Aaron Ashmore) share a quiet moment in the hangar, discussing the new staff they've quietly brought on board. Wheezer hopes to keep the hires under the radar from higher-ups, who are more focused on expanding Pacific operations than managing the northern base. But as Hayley and Wheezer know, turnover is constant at SkyMed—except for them. While others grow up and move on, Wheezer refuses to mature, and for Hayley, SkyMed is family. And then there's the simmering romance between the two, which gets a tantalizing tease before they're called to a rescue involving a giant pit—a mission that makes them both wish they'd stayed on base.
What Is 'SkyMed' About?
Created by Julie Puckrin, who drew inspiration from her nurse sister and pilot brother-in-law (who met while working for an air ambulance), SkyMed is filmed on location in Manitoba and North Bay, Ontario, using real aircraft. The series originally aired on CBC in Canada before finding a global home on Paramount+. It's a unique blend of medical drama and adventure, set against the breathtaking but unforgiving Canadian wilderness.
Returning for Season 4 are staff den mother Crystal Highway (Morgan Holmstrom), up-and-coming pilot Lexi Martine (Mercedes Morris), and Lexi's paramedic girlfriend Stef (Sydney Kuhne). New faces include Captain Riley (Lauren Lee Smith), a pilot with a shared history with Wheezer; cocky Flight Nurse Zay Patel (Shawn Ahmed); spirited rookie Flight Nurse Piper Adler (Leishe Meyboom); charming First Officer Wyatt Ellis (Alexander Eling); and ambitious Pilot Maya Chang (Cecilia Lee).
