The movie, which grossed nearly $200 million worldwide against a modest $30 million budget, was a surprise hit despite mixed reviews from critics. Reynolds plays Michael Bryce, a top-tier bodyguard tasked with protecting Darius Kincaid (Jackson), one of the world's most lethal assassins, as they race against time to testify at the International Court of Justice. It's a rollicking ride filled with car chases, shootouts, and plenty of profane banter between the two leads.
Reynolds himself once called the film a "Hail Mary" in an interview, and it certainly paid off.
