For fans of X-Men '97, the voices of Rogue and Gambit are unmistakable. Lenore Zann's Southern drawl and A.J. LoCascio's smooth Cajun charm defined the animated series' most beloved couple. Now, those same voices are returning for a new adventure—this time in audiobook form.
Collider has exclusively learned that Zann and LoCascio will narrate the Rogue and Gambit chapters, respectively, in the upcoming audiobook Rogue x Gambit (An X-Men Love Story). Written by Louangie Bou-Montes and Aabria Iyengar in collaboration with Marvel, the novel is set to release from Random House Audio on February 9, 2027. Each actor will read their character's point-of-view chapters, giving listeners a rare glimpse into what Rogue and Remy are thinking when the other isn't around.
A Love Story Set in New Orleans
The story finds Remy returning to his hometown of New Orleans, feeling that the city needs him—though he's not sure the people he left behind want an X-Man showing up. Rogue goes with him, and together they uncover a sinister plot: someone is buying up pieces of the city in the aftermath of a devastating hurricane. And there are actual vampires involved, making the question of who's profiting from the city's pain a little more literal than either of them expected.
This dual-perspective approach is a perfect fit for a couple whose entire relationship is built on unspoken tension. Rogue can't touch anyone without risking their life, and Gambit has never been good at keeping his distance. Their flirting is a dance around the one thing they both want—and fear. With each character getting their own chapters, listeners will hear the thoughts they keep hidden, adding a new layer to their dynamic.
For those who've followed the X-Men saga, this audiobook is a must-listen. It's a chance to hear the iconic voices of Zann and LoCascio bring these characters to life once more, in a story that promises romance, danger, and a whole lot of Southern charm.
