In a swift turn of events that has streaming fans buzzing, Prime Video's Spider-Noir has been dethroned from the number one spot after a dominant week-long run. The Nicolas Cage-led detective series, which reimagines the Spider-Man mythos as a gritty noir thriller, has been overtaken by the platform's own romantic juggernaut, Off Campus.

This isn't the first time we've seen a streaming chart battle, but the speed of the swap highlights just how fickle—and passionate—audiences can be. While Spider-Noir still commands a loyal viewership, it seems the collective attention has shifted back to the campus romance that originally claimed the throne.

Fan-Made 4K Remaster Mod Brings Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers PS2 Game Back to Life
Two decades after its original release, a dedicated fan has created a 4K remaster mod for The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers PS2 game, complete with a new trailer.

The Rise and Fall of Spider-Noir

Debuting to strong numbers, Spider-Noir stars Cage as Ben Reilly, a private investigator who also happens to be the web-slinging hero known as The Spider. The series quickly climbed to the top of Prime Video's charts, filling the superhero void left by The Boys. But its reign was short-lived. On May 29, 2026, just days after its premiere, Off Campus reclaimed the number one position.

Based on Elle Kennedy's bestselling book series, Off Campus stars Ella Bright as Hannah Wells and Belmont Cameli as Garrett Graham, two college students who enter a fake romantic relationship that, predictably, sparks real feelings. The show dropped on May 13 and has been a streaming powerhouse ever since, only briefly interrupted by Cage's superhero noir.

Why Off Campus Is Winning Hearts

Critics have been overwhelmingly positive about Off Campus. It currently holds a 93% Certified Fresh score on Rotten Tomatoes, with an 88% audience rating. Reviewers have praised the lighthearted tone that still tackles serious themes, as well as the undeniable chemistry between Bright and Cameli. Collider's Therese Lacson gave the show an 8/10, noting its fidelity to the source material while cleverly weaving in elements from later books in the series.

Not everyone is sold, though. Some critics have called the series "overstuffed, scattered, and undermotivated," while others argue it "doesn't break new ground" for the romance genre. Lacson herself pointed out that certain aspects require viewers to "suspend their disbelief regarding college life." Still, the numbers don't lie: audiences are hooked.

What's Next for Both Shows?

Prime Video has already greenlit a Season 2 of Off Campus, though it will shift focus to characters Dean Di Laurentis (Stephen Kalyn) and Allie Hayes (Mika Abdalla) from The Score, the third book in the series. A release date has yet to be announced.

As for Spider-Noir, it currently sits between Off Campus and The Boys on the charts, still pulling in solid numbers. For those looking for more superhero action, check out our deep dive into how the series redefines the genre.
