Nicolas Cage's Spider-Noir has proven that the Spider-Man franchise still has plenty of web-slinging life left on television. The series, which follows Cage as a jaded private investigator in a black-and-white world, has reminded audiences that there are many versions of Spider-Man beyond Peter Parker and Miles Morales. But while Spider-Noir is a hit, Prime Video should not forget another Spider-Man project it shelved: Silk: Spider Society.

Back in 2020, Sony and Prime Video announced Silk: Spider Society as the first Marvel show with an Asian-American lead. The series would have followed Cindy Moon, a Korean-American woman who gains spider powers and must adjust to life after being locked in a bunker for ten years. But after creative changes and a move to MGM+, Prime Video decided to shelve the project. Now, with Spider-Noir proving that audiences want more Spider-Man on TV, it's time to bring Silk back.

Why 'Silk: Spider Society' Deserves a Second Chance

Cindy Moon's story is ripe for television. Like Ben Reilly in Spider-Noir, she struggles with her past and her powers. Her search for her family and her Korean-American heritage could tap into the same appeal that made the Spider-Verse movies so successful. Plus, the series could introduce the Spider Society, a team of spider-powered heroes from across the multiverse. This would allow Prime Video to bring fan-favorite characters like Scarlet Spider, Spider-Girl, and even Miguel O'Hara (Spider-Man 2099) to live-action. Imagine Oscar Isaac reprising his role as Miguel in a Blade Runner-inspired world—that's a must-watch series.

Prime Video is already competing for viewer attention with shows like Off Campus, but Silk could give it a unique edge. The series could adapt the classic Spider-Verse storyline by Dan Slott and Olivier Coipel, where the Inheritors hunt all spider-powered beings across the Web of Life and Destiny. Cindy Moon is the Bride, a key target, making her story central to a multiverse-spanning adventure full of action and mysticism.

Prime Video has a history of reviving shelved projects, as seen with Cleverman. Silk: Spider Society deserves the same treatment. It would not only give fans more Spider-Man content but also put a deserving character in the spotlight. With Spider-Noir already streaming, now is the perfect time for Prime Video to revisit this unfairly shelved series.
