There's nothing worse than investing hours into a TV series only to watch it fizzle out by mid-season. Filler episodes, meandering plots, and disappointing endings are all too common. But Vince Gilligan, the mastermind behind Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul, has crafted a new Apple TV+ show that avoids those pitfalls entirely. Pluribus is a sci-fi triumph that delivers a flawless season from the very first frame to the final credits.

What Is 'Pluribus' About?

Premiering on Apple TV in November 2025, Pluribus has quickly become a fan favorite. The opening episode plunges viewers into a creepy, fascinating sequence hinting at an extraterrestrial virus arriving on Earth. We meet Carol Sturka (Rhea Seehorn), a romance novelist who seems utterly miserable with her life. Then, one seemingly ordinary night, a bizarre event upends Carol's world—and the entire planet.

Victoria Aveyard Sets Sail for TV Adaptation of 'Lyrian Sea Tempest'
Victoria Aveyard, the author behind the Red Queen series, has officially confirmed a TV adaptation of her novel Lyrian Sea Tempest. Here's what we know so far.

Without giving too much away, almost every survivor on Earth becomes part of a single hivemind. But Carol, along with about a dozen others, is immune. In a genius twist, the hivemind—called the Others—doesn't want to harm Carol; they genuinely want her to be happy. The season follows Carol as she navigates this strange new normal, full of surprises and emotional depth.

'Pluribus' Season 1: A Perfect Arc

Pluribus is a brilliant sci-fi show because of its creative storytelling. The first episode is one of the best series premieres ever, amping up the action quickly. While the rest of the season adopts a slower pace, it's intentional—allowing the characters and world to breathe. There are plenty of twists and turns, like the cliffhanger in Episode 5 that will leave you scrambling for the next episode. The finale is a stunner, making you anxiously await Season 2. There are zero filler episodes or boring side plots. Every scene immerses you in this wild world, making it a perfect season from beginning to end.

The cast is equally essential. Seehorn was born to play Carol, conveying deep pain beneath a stoic surface. Few actors can transmit such a range of emotions with a simple gesture or facial expression. Karolina Wydra is captivating as an Other who becomes Carol's connection to this new world, and Carlos-Manuel Vesga plays Manousos Oviedo, another immune survivor, with quiet determination.

Because there are no bad episodes, the desire for another season has only grown. The show was originally slated for a Season 2 return in late 2027, but even that might be optimistic. The good news is that Pluribus is so fantastic that it's still worthy of a binge-watch, even if you've already seen it.

Apple TV+ continues to dominate the sci-fi genre, with hits like Silo Season 3 arriving in July 2026 and Rebecca Ferguson's Silo dominating the charts. Pluribus is another feather in the streamer's cap, proving that Apple TV's sci-fi strategy is winning.
