Fans of Anne Rice's Immortal Universe got a thrilling surprise during tonight's episode of The Vampire Lestat: a fresh teaser for the upcoming third season of Mayfair Witches. The series, which has been off the air since its sophomore season wrapped in spring 2025, now has a confirmed return window—and it's taking viewers to one of the most infamous towns in American history.
The brief but tantalizing clip shows Rowan Fielding (Alexandra Daddario) attempting to leave her supernatural life behind and return to her medical career as a neurosurgeon. But the world of witchcraft has other plans. In a chilling moment, she tries to use her healing abilities on a patient, only for her eyes to turn black as she levitates off the ground. The teaser then cuts to a rapid-fire montage of eerie imagery, confirming that the new season will transport audiences to Salem, Massachusetts, to explore the origins and mythology of witchcraft.
New Faces Joining the Coven
Season 3 will introduce several new cast members, including Betsy Brandt (Breaking Bad), James Frain (Star Trek: Discovery), Eliza Scanlen (Dope Girls), and Omar Maskati (The Recruit). While an exact premiere date has not been announced, AMC has confirmed that the series will return in 2027.
For those who need a refresher, Season 2 saw Rowan and the Mayfair family attempting to raise the ancient entity Lasher (Jack Huston), whom Rowan had given birth to in the previous season. Lasher began hunting and killing other family members, forcing Rowan to seek help from her sinister father, Cortland (Harry Hamlin). The situation escalated when they turned to an even darker power: Cortland's long-dead father, Julien (Ted Levine). Lasher eventually fell into the hands of the Scottish branch of the Mayfair family, who planned to mate him with another being of his kind. Rowan and Talamasca agent Ciprien Grieve (Tongayi Chirisa) managed to foil their scheme, but Lasher was killed in the process. Meanwhile, Julien's spirit took control of Cortland's body, setting the stage for his own nefarious plans.
What's Next for the Mayfair Witches?
Mayfair Witches is adapted from Rice's Lives of the Mayfair Witches novels, and Season 3 is expected to draw from the third book in the series, Taltos. The series is showrun by Esta Spalding and Thomas Schnauz, who also executive produce alongside Mark Johnson—the overseer of the Anne Rice Immortal Universe for AMC Networks—as well as Michelle Ashford and Tom Williams.
