Christmas may still be weeks away, but the holiday movie season is already upon us. A new British film is putting a fresh spin on Charles Dickens' classic A Christmas Carol, and Collider has exclusively debuted the first trailer. Merry Christmas Aubrey Flint stars John Bradley, best known for his role as Samwell Tarly on Game of Thrones, as a modern-day miser who must save a retirement home from closing.

In the trailer, Aubrey Flint (Bradley) is far from a Victorian Scrooge, but he's no fan of Christmas either. He's a loner who avoids people at all costs. When a confrontation over a snow globe leads to him damaging a man's mobility scooter, Aubrey lands in legal trouble. His punishment: community service at a retirement home run by Ellen (Sophia Di Martino). But the home is on the brink of closure, and Ellen has a plan—put on a play with the residents to get the building designated as a community theater. Naturally, the play is A Christmas Carol, and Aubrey finds himself in the director's chair. Will he save Christmas, or is this just more humbug?

Sense and Sensibility 2026: Georgia Oakley's Austen Adaptation Is a Masterpiece
Georgia Oakley's Sense and Sensibility is a triumph, blending modern sensibilities with Austen's timeless tale of the Dashwood sisters.

The film boasts an impressive ensemble of British talent. Alongside Bradley and Di Martino, the cast includes Celia Imrie (The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel), Richard E. Grant (Withnail and I), Adjoa Andoh (Bridgerton), and Kiell Smith-Bynoe (Ghosts UK). Oscar winner Jim Broadbent lends his voice as Charles Dickens himself. With such a lineup, the film promises plenty of heart and humor.

Behind the camera, Merry Christmas Aubrey Flint is directed by Jack Spring, who previously helmed Three Day Millionaire and Destination: Dewsbury. The script comes from Chris Boyle-McQuarry, who also appears in the film. Executive producers include Damian Jones (Goodbye Christopher Robin) and Paul Grindey (The Father), with Andy Brunskill (Everything Now) producing. Samuel Goldwyn Films will release the movie in theaters on November 6.

For fans of Game of Thrones, this is a chance to see Bradley in a very different role. While Samwell Tarly was known for his intellect and compassion, Aubrey Flint starts out as a solitary curmudgeon. But if the trailer is any indication, his journey toward redemption will be both funny and touching. The holiday season is all about second chances, and Merry Christmas Aubrey Flint seems to embody that spirit.
