When Supernatural wrapped after 15 seasons, fans felt a mix of closure and longing. The series finale gave Dean (Jensen Ackles) a heroic death and Sam (Jared Padalecki) a glimpse of a peaceful future, but the show's mythology always felt like it could keep going. Now, with both stars openly craving a return and Ackles locked into Amazon's orbit, the path to a revival might be clearer than ever—thanks to Vought Rising.
The Winchesters Are Ready to Ride Again
For years, Ackles and Padalecki have hinted at a Supernatural comeback. In interviews and at conventions, they've stressed that any revival must be done right—with a tight episode count and a story that honors the original. Padalecki told Collider in 2024, “If and when Supernatural comes back, it’s going to be a labor of love… I just don’t know when I’m available. But my answer is yes.” Since then, the duo reunited on The Boys alongside Misha Collins and even appeared as themselves on The Rookie, proving their chemistry is still electric.
Ackles, however, is now under Amazon's thumb. After starring in The Boys and the short-lived Countdown, he's headlining the prequel series Vought Rising. As he told Collider last summer, “It sounds like Amazon’s going to have to come up with an idea on that one, because they’re controlling my schedule right now.” That makes Prime Video the most likely home for any Supernatural revival—especially since series creator Eric Kripke already has a strong relationship with the streamer through The Boys.
Could Prime Video Be the New Home for the Winchesters?
Kripke has expressed interest in revisiting the Supernatural universe, but only if a fresh story emerges. “If there was something out there that really surprised me, I love that universe, and I’d be interested in looking at that,” he told Collider. A limited-run revival, similar to The X-Files' shortened seasons, could work perfectly on Prime Video. Warner Bros. Television owns the show, but Amazon has already hosted DC properties like Batman: Caped Crusader, so a deal isn't out of the question. Meanwhile, Warner Bros. Discovery's recent purchase by Paramount could also open doors for Paramount+, which already airs the supernatural thriller Evil.
For fans, the ideal revival would strip away the cosmic stakes and return to the show's horror roots—chasing urban legends and monsters of the week. As Dean once said, “Let's get to work.” Whether that means alternate-universe Winchesters or a clever workaround to the finale, the pieces are in place. With Ackles' Amazon schedule and Kripke's creative spark, the road to a Supernatural comeback may finally be paved.
In the meantime, fans can revisit the original series or check out other streaming revivals like Heroes returning to Netflix. And if you're craving more supernatural thrills, IDW's horror comics might scratch that itch.
