After smashing Peacock records with over 860 million minutes streamed, The Five-Star Weekend is officially returning for a second season. And according to star Jennifer Garner, fans can expect a noticeably different Hollis Shaw this time around.

In a recent chat with Collider, Garner opened up about the show's evolution now that it's moving beyond Elin Hilderbrand's original novel. While the writers have a clear vision for the new episodes, the actress teased that Hollis won't be as consumed by grief as she was in the debut season. "She's not quite as much in the thick of grief," Garner said, adding that while loss will always be part of her character, she won't be "as undone" by her husband's death.

Idris Elba and Adam Hamdy's new MI6 thriller series 'Exiles' hits shelves in May 2027, with three books planned and a screen project in development.

The shift makes sense, given that the writers' room is now crafting entirely new storylines. Garner, who also serves as an executive producer, recently sat in on a writers' session and was impressed by their ideas. "They have a very clear path through the second season," she said, though she acknowledged the challenge of working without a book to anchor the themes.

Garner also shared some memorable behind-the-scenes moments from Season 1, including a day when she and co-star Gemma Chan stopped speaking to each other after filming an intense confrontation in a pantry. "We really had to go after each other," she recalled, noting that they needed a big hug at the end of the day to reset.

The actress was equally effusive about her other castmates. She admitted to being moved to tears by D'Arcy Carden's performance during a particularly emotional scene, even when the cameras weren't on her. "They kept being like, 'Jennifer, stop crying,'" she laughed, praising Carden's brilliance.

Chloë Sevigny also left a lasting impression, often changing her performance mid-scene and pulling Garner into unexpected emotional territory. And Regina Hall, who plays Dru-Ann, brought both humor and depth, with Garner admitting she dreaded seeing Hall's character angry at Hollis because she respects her so much.

With Season 2 now in development, fans are eager to see where Hollis's journey goes next. The show's massive success has already made it a standout for Peacock, and with Garner's enthusiasm and the writers' fresh ideas, the next chapter promises to be just as compelling. For those who haven't caught up yet, The Five-Star Weekend is currently streaming on Peacock.
