It's rare to see Batman and Harley Quinn on the same side, but Prime Video's Batman: Caped Crusader is about to change that. In Season 2, the Dark Knight and the jester may put aside their differences to take on Gotham's worst. New exclusive images from the upcoming season tease a partnership that could reshape the city's future.
The first image captures Batman brooding over a blazing alley, a classic noir shot that highlights the show's 1940s Golden Age comic aesthetic. Season 2 finds the vigilante still early in his crime-fighting career, pushed to his limits as he battles the corrupt system and the criminal empire of Rupert Thorne (voiced by Cedric Yarbrough). The other two stills, however, show something unexpected: Batman and Harley Quinn together, deep in conversation. In one, they stand side by side overlooking Gotham; in another, Bruce actually lets Harley into the Batcave to examine his evidence board. It's a clear sign that the two are forming an uneasy alliance.
This version of Harley Quinn, voiced by Jamie Chung, is a far cry from the classic villain. Introduced in Season 1 as Dr. Harleen Quinzel, she operates as a twisted anti-hero—by day, a warm psychiatrist to Gotham's elite; by night, a cold vigilante punishing the corrupt. Her goal is to force the city's powerful to give back what they've stolen, a mission that aligns more with Batman's sense of justice than she might admit. The new images suggest that in Season 2, that alignment becomes a working relationship.
Showrunner Bruce Timm, the mind behind the beloved Batman: The Animated Series, continues to reinvent the mythos. The series has earned a 91% critics' score on Rotten Tomatoes, with praise for its bold takes on familiar characters. Collider's Liam Gaughan gave it a 7/10, calling it "a bold reinvention that retains the ethos that makes the character so special." Beyond the Batman-Harley dynamic, Season 2 will properly introduce the Joker. Season 1 ended with a chilling tease, and at San Diego Comic-Con, it was revealed that House of the Dragon's Matthew Needham will voice the Clown Prince of Crime. He joins a stellar cast including Hamish Linklater as Batman, Eric Morgan Stuart, Krystal Joy Brown, Jason Watkins, John DiMaggio, Gary Anthony Williams, and Michelle C. Bonilla. Needham, Linklater, and Bonilla will also lend their voices to a new Amazon Luna-exclusive tie-in game, Batman: Caped Crusader – Chronicles, releasing the same day as the season.
With its noir roots and willingness to experiment, Batman: Caped Crusader Season 2 promises to be a thrilling ride. The partnership between Batman and Harley Quinn is just one of many surprises in store. The season premieres tomorrow, July 31, on Prime Video.
