Fourteen years after its final episode aired, Desperate Housewives is proving that Wisteria Lane never really loses its grip on viewers. The ABC mystery thriller, which originally ran from 2004 to 2012, has stormed back into streaming charts in May 2026, riding a wave of nostalgia and anticipation for the upcoming Disney+ revival, Wisteria Lane.

On Disney+, the series re-entered the France TV chart at #10 on May 6. But the real action is on the Apple TV Store, where the complete-series package has seen a remarkable climb. In the United States, it jumped from #19 on May 5 to #11 on May 6, then broke into the Top 10 at #6 on May 7, before settling at #10 on May 8. It also charted in Canada (#16) and France (#21) earlier in the week.

Your May 11 Binge Plan: 3 Netflix Shows That Demand Your Weekend
Looking for your next Netflix obsession? We've got three binge-worthy shows to start this week, including a gritty British crime thriller, a beloved teen noir classic, and a hilarious new animated series from the creator of 'BoJack Horseman.'

This isn't just passive catalog viewing. The Apple TV Store movement indicates that audiences are actively seeking out, renting, or buying the show—a sign of genuine, engaged interest. The series' enduring appeal makes sense: it was never just a soap opera. Creator Marc Cherry masterfully blended murder mystery, neighborhood surveillance, marital secrets, class commentary, dark comedy, and betrayal, all narrated by a dead woman looking down on a seemingly perfect street where everyone hid something. That structure made it binge-worthy long before streaming platforms trained us to binge.

Starring Teri Hatcher, Felicity Huffman, Marcia Cross, Eva Longoria, and Brenda Strong as the iconic narrator Mary Alice Young, Desperate Housewives ran for eight seasons and 180 episodes. Its return to the spotlight comes as Disney's Onyx Collective develops Wisteria Lane, a new offshoot announced on April 29, 2025. The revival is being produced by Kerry Washington, Pilar Savone, and Stacey Sher, with Natalie Chaidez attached to write and executive produce. The premise reportedly follows five diverse friends on the same cul-de-sac, with polished lives hiding darker secrets.

While some fans have expressed reboot fatigue and concerns about the lack of original cast or Marc Cherry's involvement, Huffman herself has publicly supported the women-of-color direction. The project is still in early development, with no confirmed cast, production start, or release date yet. But the streaming surge suggests the appetite for more suburban mystery is very much alive.

This isn't the only classic title finding new life on streaming. Ryan Reynolds and Sandra Bullock's 'The Proposal' Becomes Netflix's Surprise Rom-Com Hit in May 2026, while Prime Video's $300M Spy Flop Citadel Quietly Becomes a Streaming Hit in May 2026. For those craving more mystery, Anna Kendrick's 'Another Simple Favor' Murder Mystery Dominates HBO Max in May 2026.

Desperate Housewives is currently streaming on Disney+. Stay tuned for more updates on Wisteria Lane as the revival moves forward.
