Apple TV+'s dystopian sci-fi series Silo returns for its penultimate third season, and the stakes have never been higher. According to Collider's Tania Hussain, Season 3 'sets a new standard for what prestige sci-fi can be.' As Silo 18 rebuilds after a rebellion under new mayor Juliette Nichols (Rebecca Ferguson), the show also flashes back to the 'Before Times,' revealing the silos' origins centuries ago.

In a recent interview with Collider's Steven Weintraub, stars Common and Alexandria Riley—who play power couple Robert and Camille Sims—shared the challenges of their characters' new roles. Robert has been appointed judge, while Camille steps in as head of IT, a promotion that comes with immense pressure. 'Man, this is the most I've had to do,' Common admitted, while Riley added with a laugh, 'I was scared. She's now responsible for 10,000 people, as well as trying to save her marriage and look after her son. It was a lot.'

Weekend Binge Alert: 3 Netflix Shows to Devour on July 10
Looking for something to watch this weekend? We've got three Netflix shows that are perfect for a July 10 binge, including a fresh take on a classic frontier story.

Season 3 Brings New Depths for the Sims Couple

Common revealed that initially, he thought his role might be smaller this season, but reading the scripts changed his mind. 'When I read it, and we got into it, I was like, “Man, this is the most I've had to do,” and in the best ways, because the quality of the scenes and just the storyline of Robert Sims is just so rich,' he said. Riley echoed the sentiment, noting that Camille's journey felt like going it alone without her usual partner. 'It was the excitement of the challenge to dig into the character a bit more and see what her abilities were with those emotions stretched as far as she could,' she explained.

For fans wondering which episodes to watch closely, both actors have clear favorites. Common pointed to Episode 305 as his most demanding yet. 'That was the most work I had to do on Silo, as far as in an episode. There are so many different dynamics, and so much is revealed,' he said. Riley, meanwhile, highlighted Episode 309. 'It's the pinnacle of intensity, and the same as you, the work, and just how difficult and challenging that was. So I would say look out for that one.'

Season 4 Promises Heightened Action and Pace

With Season 4 already filmed, Common and Riley offered tantalizing hints about the show's final chapter. 'When I read Season 4, and we had a quick teaser trailer before we left filming, I was like, “Oh, this is the highest level we've reached,”' Common said. 'Everything is heightened. It's our last season, so things are heightened.' Riley added that the pace and action pick up dramatically: 'The pace, though, and the action, everything picks up at an extremely fast pace.'

Common also reflected on the final day of filming Season 4, calling it one of his 'best days of filming.' He shared, 'The scenes went great. The celebration was great. The speeches we gave just were heartfelt.' As Silo builds toward its conclusion, the series continues to evolve, with Common noting, 'I think it's great when you can say that the show is evolving and the work is evolving, and you can see that on the screen.'
