The world of Westeros keeps expanding in 2026. After the debut of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms and the upcoming Season 3 of House of the Dragon, fans now have a new way to immerse themselves in the Targaryen civil war: a mobile strategy game called Game of Thrones: Dragonfire.
Developed by Warner Bros. Games Boston, Dragonfire puts players in command of dragon-led armies during the Dance of the Dragons. The game adapts the story based on player choices, offering a personalized journey through the conflict. As a special bonus, linking an HBO Max account lets players earn rewards by watching House of the Dragon episodes.
“We’re thrilled to bring Game of Thrones: Dragonfire to mobile players with an immersive strategy experience that is very authentic to House of the Dragon,” said JB Perrette, CEO and President of Global Streaming and Games at Warner Bros. Discovery. “Our Warner Bros. Boston team did an amazing job creating a game true to the Game of Thrones world for fans, inviting them to build their legacy, forge alliances, and define their own battle for Westeros.”
Matt Read, Vice President and Studio Head at Warner Bros. Games Boston, emphasized the team’s commitment to authenticity. “From commanding dragons to navigating the choices that shape Westeros, we focused on creating a game that feels true to the universe fans love while giving them room to play their own way,” he said.
Meanwhile, House of the Dragon Season 3 is generating buzz for its darker tone. Showrunner Ryan Condal recently described Rhaenyra’s evolution from a sympathetic figure into a more complex, morally compromised leader. “That’s the special sauce of the show,” Condal said. “Who a character is in a single moment does not mean that is who they are for all time; that would be boring.” He added that Rhaenyra’s belief in divine right—backed by six dragons—justifies increasingly ruthless decisions, creating a “sympathetic, warning, and tragic” protagonist.
Season 2 ended with Daemon returning to Rhaenyra’s side after Aegon’s near-fatal fall from his dragon, Sunfyre. Now, Team Black is poised to reclaim King’s Landing, setting the stage for a brutal conflict. Condal has indicated that Season 4 will conclude the series, but the franchise’s future remains bright with A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms already airing and more spin-offs potentially in development.
For fans eager to dive deeper into the Targaryen saga, Dragonfire offers a hands-on way to experience the war. The game is available now on mobile devices, and Season 3 of House of the Dragon premieres soon on HBO.
