Marvel fans have been on a wild ride lately, from the highs of Spider-Man: No Way Home to the lows of Secret Invasion. But all roads lead to the next big Avengers blockbuster, and the excitement is building. Avengers: Doomsday is set to hit theaters on December 18, with only Spider-Man: Brand New Day (starring Tom Holland, Mark Ruffalo, and Jon Bernthal) standing in its way. There's also the VisionQuest Disney+ series starring Paul Bettany, arriving in October, though its connection to the big screen event remains unclear.

But the MCU isn't stopping there. Almost exactly one year after Doomsday, Marvel Studios will release Avengers: Secret Wars, following the successful model of back-to-back Avengers films. One of the biggest surprises came when the first Doomsday trailer revealed that Chris Evans would reprise his role as Steve Rogers. Now, Evans has confirmed he'll also appear in Secret Wars—but he's keeping the details close to his chest.

Steven Spielberg reveals he helped cast Dumbledore, McGonagall, and Hagrid before stepping away from Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone.

In a recent Instagram video, Evans said he "starts work on the next one"—meaning Avengers: Secret Wars—"in a couple of months." He added, "I can't tell you how much I'm in the next one, but I'm in it." This has sparked speculation about whether his character might meet his end in Doomsday or survive to play a larger role in Secret Wars.

Fans are already theorizing that Doctor Doom (played by Robert Downey Jr.) could kill off Steve Rogers early in Doomsday to establish his threat level, much like Thanos killed Loki in Infinity War. But Evans' confirmation that he's in Secret Wars suggests that either a variant of Steve Rogers will appear, or the character will survive Doomsday.

As for Avengers: Secret Wars, the stakes have never been higher. With Evans back in the fold, fans are eager to see how his story unfolds. Will Steve Rogers lead the charge once more, or will his role be a cameo that sets up a new generation of heroes? Only time—and Marvel's tight-lipped strategy—will tell.
