Marvel Comics is keeping the Spider-Man momentum rolling in 2026 with the latest issue of The Amazing Spider-Man: Spider-Versity, and this time, a fan-favorite symbiote is crashing the party. While Tom Holland's Spider-Man: Brand New Day is set to swing into theaters later this month, and Nicolas Cage's Spider-Noir recently earned Emmy buzz, the comic side of the web-slinger's universe is delivering its own dose of chaos. Issue #4, hitting shelves today, introduces Carnage in a surprising new role—bonded with the innocent Spider-Girl.
A Symbiote on Campus
The series follows Miles Morales, Spider-Gwen, Silk, Araña, Spider-Boy, and Spider-Girl as they train under the watchful—and shady—eye of former Resolute Spider-Man Norman Osborn and Spider-Woman. In this issue, the symbiote Carnage has latched onto Spider-Girl, who naively believes the creature is just a new friend living in her head. During their nightly swings through the campus, she's grown to trust the being, despite Norman's warnings that symbiotes are bad news for the Spiders. But Carnage's intentions may be far from innocent as he bides his time with the most gullible student.
Even if Norman is right about the symbiotes, his own methods are raising eyebrows. His training is effective—Miles and Silk credit his intelligence for victories against villains like Overdrive and Ringmaster—but his tactics are more underhanded than even Spider-Woman knows. The preview also shows Spider-Gwen voicing her concerns to Miles during agility training, noting that the exact villains they train for keep showing up on campus. It's a suspicious pattern that suggests Norman has a hand in all of this.
A Killer Stalks the School
As if a symbiote-infused student wasn't enough, a killer has begun stalking the campus, adding a layer of suspense to the already tense atmosphere. Jordan Morris pens this thrilling tale, with art by Pere Perez and a gnarly cover by Giuseppe Camuncoli depicting Norman transformed into the wicked Red Goblin. The issue promises to explore trust, deception, and the dark side of mentorship.
For fans who can't get enough symbiote action, this comes on the heels of news that Venom is getting a new animated movie from Final Destination Bloodlines directors Zach Lipovsky and Adam B. Stein, with Tom Hardy returning in a production role. But for now, The Amazing Spider-Man: Spider-Versity #4 offers a fresh twist on the symbiote saga, blending campus drama with classic Spider-Man stakes.
