Two of horror's favorite final girls are trading in their usual haunts for something far more primal. Kiana Madeira, known for the Fear Street trilogy, and Jessica Rothe, the star of Happy Death Day, are teaming up to face a truly gigantic threat in Beware Boiúna, a new survival horror film from Wrong Turn director Mike P. Nelson. The movie, which also stars Logan Marshall-Green of Upgrade fame, promises a terrifying blend of creature feature and jungle survival.
Set deep in the Amazon rainforest, Beware Boiúna follows a medical mission that quickly turns into a nightmare. The group's arrival stirs an ancient predator known as Boiúna, a colossal serpent that will stop at nothing to protect its territory. Nelson directs from a screenplay by Alan McElroy, based on a story by Tony Giglio and McElroy. The duo previously collaborated on the 2021 Wrong Turn reboot, and Nelson also directed the "No Wake/Ambrosia" segment of V/H/S/85. The film is produced by Jeremy Bolt and Robert Kulzer, with Lionsgate presenting it as a Constantin Film and JB Pictures production in association with North.Five.Six.
Beware Boiúna will make its world premiere at Fantastic Fest on September 17, before slithering into theaters nationwide on October 2.
