When Apocalypse Z: The Beginning of the End hit Prime Video in 2024, it gave zombie fans a fresh kind of survival story—one where the hero had to protect not just himself but his cat. The Spanish horror film followed Manel as he navigated a world overrun by the infected, where even a trip outside could be deadly. Now, the sequel Apocalypse Z: New World is here, and it's expanding that terrifying universe in a big way.

Directed once again by Carles Torrens, with a script from Ángel Agudo, the new chapter is based on the novels by Manel Loureiro. It arrives on Prime Video just in time for Halloween, shifting the focus from a lone survivor to a larger group of refugees. The Canary Islands have become Europe's last safe haven, but safety is relative when the mainland is still crawling with the infected—and when human motives can be just as dangerous.

Collider is thrilled to exclusively debut a clip from Apocalypse Z: New World, now streaming on Prime Video. In the scene, a band of armed survivors stumbles upon a computer that still has a working connection to an online chat network. For a moment, the possibility of reaching other people sparks genuine hope. One survivor even jokes, "It's like the Internet from 40 years ago, but it works." The group gathers around the monitor, wondering if a telephone switchboard might still be operational, and someone asks if anyone from Madrid is online.

Then a response appears from a user named Elias. A greeting. A flicker of excitement. But the joy is short-lived when they realize Elias is a bot—the message is automatic, and the last recorded response was two months ago. The screen then displays a bleak line: "There is no one to care for my soul," identified as Psalms 142:4. The clip masterfully builds tension from the promise of human contact, only to leave the survivors with a chilling emptiness.

That sense of isolation fits the sequel's larger survival narrative. After the TSJ virus outbreak, the Canary Islands are the last refuge in Europe. A mission to the mainland for vital supplies brings Roberto into a group whose problems go beyond the infected. His questionable intentions add another layer of threat to an already perilous operation. The ensemble cast includes Carlos Alcaide, Julia Martínez, Mónica López, Tamara Casellas, and Santiago Vaca Narvaja, alongside José María Yazpik and Berta Vázquez.

Produced by Núria Valls and Adrián Guerra, Apocalypse Z: New World has already screened at Sitges and Screamfest LA, building buzz before its streaming debut. For fans of the genre, it's a worthy addition to the pantheon of horror sequels that manage to expand the story without losing the dread. And if you're in the mood for more Prime Video scares, you might also check out the mystery marathon coming to the platform.

With its blend of survival horror and psychological tension, Apocalypse Z: New World offers Halloween viewers another trip into a world where surviving the outbreak hasn't made anyone safe. The clip is a perfect taste of what's to come—a reminder that even in a world of zombies, the most haunting discoveries are often the ones that remind us we're truly alone.
