AMC Networks is doubling down on its supernatural storytelling, with executive producer Mark Johnson confirming that the network is actively developing multiple new spin-offs for its Anne Rice Immortal Universe. In an exclusive chat with Collider, Johnson revealed that two to three projects are currently in the works, though he stopped short of naming them.

“We’re very lucky in that AMC has not given us a mandate. It’s not like we need four shows, and these are the dates on them. It’s much more natural and organic,” Johnson said. “Most importantly, given that we’re having this conversation, we want desperately and are doing our utmost to think about a Season 4 of the show we’re talking about right now. I have to believe it’s inevitable. What do I know? But there’s no way we can’t continue this, this saga, we can’t continue Lestat and Louis... We have two or three that probably I shouldn’t announce quite right now, but we are robustly developing, and hopefully we’ll have, before you know it, a third show and hopefully a fourth.”

Since acquiring the rights to Anne Rice’s epic fantasy novels—including The Vampire Chronicles and Lives of the Mayfair Witches—six years ago, AMC has brought these supernatural stories to the small screen with mixed results. Interview with the Vampire premiered to both critical and audience acclaim in 2022, setting a high bar that subsequent spin-offs have struggled to match. Mayfair Witches, which debuted a year later, has been a mixed bag but is on track for a third season, while The Talamasca: The Secret Order was canceled after just one season.

Johnson’s comments suggest that the Immortal Universe is far from finished. The franchise has already leaned into the crossover potential that Rice’s books first embraced. Faces from Interview with the Vampire have made blink-and-you’ll-miss-it cameos on Mayfair Witches, while bigger characters—like Eric Bogosian’s baby-vampire journalist Daniel Molloy and Justin Kirk’s Talamasca agent Raglan James—previously appeared on The Talamasca: The Secret Order. If the shows take even bigger pages from the books, fans could one day see Sam Reid’s Lestat and Alexandra Daddario’s Rowan sharing the screen.

For now, viewers will have to content themselves with the assurance that the future of AMC’s Immortal Universe is still being developed, one series at a time. New episodes of The Vampire Lestat premiere Sundays on AMC. For more on the franchise, check out our Interview with the Vampire Season 2 Recap: Key Twists Before Lestat Takes Center Stage.
