Max Minghella, currently starring in the DC horror film Clayface, has officially confirmed his involvement in the upcoming fourth season of HBO's The White Lotus. In a recent interview, the actor shared his excitement about joining the acclaimed anthology series and offered a tantalizing glimpse of what fans can expect from the new installment.
Minghella, who plays a key role in Clayface alongside Tom Rhys Harries and Naomie Ackie, sat down with Collider to discuss the film. But the conversation quickly turned to his next big project. When asked about The White Lotus Season 4, Minghella confirmed his casting and couldn't help but praise his co-star Chris Messina. "He has done some really amazing stuff on set that I've not seen before," Minghella said. "Some kind of interesting approaches to a scene that I will definitely be stealing from."
While Minghella was tight-lipped about the plot, he did clarify that his role is not a principal one. "I'm very dear friends of Dave Bernad's, who's the producer of the show, and Mike White is somebody I've admired for a long time," he explained. "I think this was a role that they thought I might be a good fit for. But it came probably from my relationship with Dave Bernad."
The fourth season of The White Lotus is set to return to Europe for the first time since Season 2, with France serving as the new backdrop. The series, created by Mike White, has become a cultural phenomenon, known for its sharp social commentary, stunning locales, and star-studded ensembles. Season 4 is no exception, boasting a cast that includes Steve Coogan, Laura Dern, Heather Graham, Ben Kingsley, and Chris Messina, alongside Minghella.
As for the overarching narrative, The White Lotus has maintained a thread through its seasons, centered on the mysterious Greg Hunt (Jon Gries). After appearing in all three seasons, Greg's story has been a constant source of intrigue. Season 1 saw Tanya McQuoid (Jennifer Coolidge) fall for Greg, only for Season 2 to reveal his sinister plot to have her killed. Season 3 found Greg in Thailand, paying off Belinda (Natasha Rothwell) to keep Tanya's death a secret. Whether Greg will return in Season 4 remains to be seen, but fans are eager to see how his story continues.
Minghella's comments about Messina's performance have only heightened anticipation for the new season. "He's doing some really interesting stuff," Minghella reiterated. "I'm excited for people to see it."
While fans wait for The White Lotus Season 4, they can catch Minghella in Clayface, now in theaters. The film has been praised for its practical effects and horror elements, with Collider's review calling it "horrific to watch for all the right reasons."
