We're down to the final two episodes of The Boys Season 5, and the chaos is reaching a fever pitch. This week's penultimate installment, titled "The Frenchman, the Female, and the Man Called Mother's Milk," has a rocky start but a strong conclusion that sets up what promises to be a devastating series finale. From Homelander's latest power grab to a major death and the return of two Gen V characters, there's a lot to unpack.

Homelander Takes the Oval Office

The episode opens with Oh Father (Daveed Diggs) rehearsing for an Easter Sunday service, but Homelander is elsewhere—in Washington, D.C., meeting with President Calhoun (David Andrews) and Vice President Ashley Barrett (Colby Minifie). In a chillingly familiar image, Homelander sits at the president's desk in the Oval Office. He demands that the Democratic Church of America become the official national religion and that Calhoun dissolve the separation of church and state. When Calhoun protests that he'd need Congress's approval, Homelander balks. He orders Other Ashley to read Calhoun's mind, where he hears the president's true thoughts: fear and the belief that Homelander is psychotic. Homelander then grabs Calhoun's head, pops it like a zit, and walks out, leaving a terrified Ashley alone.

Gen V's Marie and Jordan Return

Meanwhile, Annie (Erin Moriarty) and MM (Laz Alonso) meet with Gen V's Marie Moreau (Jaz Sinclair) and Jordan Li (London Thor), who have intel that Oh Father has been spending time at Vought Studios. Annie dismisses them, and Marie quotes Annie's old audition tape: "Since when did hopeful and naive become the same thing?" Annie bluntly replies, "I was naive." The two leave, with Marie saying, "I guess you're not who I thought you were, Annie."

Back at the base, Hughie (Jack Quaid) is awakened by Kimiko's (Karen Fukuhara) screams. She's in a radiation chamber, her skin peeling, as Butcher (Karl Urban) and Frenchie (Tomer Capone) try to give her Soldier Boy's powers. Annie and MM are horrified, but Kimiko insists it was her idea. The team updates on Oh Father's location, and Butcher proposes breaking into Vought Studios. Hughie is hesitant, saying they've already lost, but Butcher gives a pep talk about Posh Spice being the weakest Spice Girl who never gave up.

The Seven Is Dissolved

The Deep (Chace Crawford) is called to a one-on-one with Homelander, who admits he knows The Deep killed Black Noir II. Homelander forgives him but announces he's dissolving the Seven. The Deep tearfully begs to lead the team, but Homelander sends him away. Later, The Deep sits alone at a dock, drinking beer, and throws a can into the ocean. His former sealife friend, Xander the Shark (voiced by Samuel L. Jackson), confronts him about the "pipeline genocide" and tells him all sealife wants nothing to do with him.

Butcher, Hughie, Annie, and MM infiltrate Vought Studios. Butcher and Hughie find Oh Father talking to Synapse (Steven Yaffee), a psychic, but are knocked out. Annie and MM discover Oh Father leading a focus group for "Homelander's next chapter" in a room guarded by psychics, Dogknott (Zach McGowan), and Sheline (Emma Elle Paterson). They hide in the projection booth as the focus group begins.

Back at the base, Frenchie asks Sister Sage (Susan Heyward) for help with Kimiko's power transfer. Sage scoffs at Frenchie's love for Kimiko, saying love blindsided her—it's what made Soldier Boy align with Homelander. She feels her powers are now useless. Meanwhile, Ashley, now president, is told by Other Ashley that they should stop Homelander, but Ashley refuses. Other Ashley declares they are no longer allies.

This episode may have a rocky start, but the final moments—with Homelander's brutal murder of the president and the dissolution of the Seven—set up a heartbreaking finale. For more on the series, check out our recap of Episode 6.
