Ian Fleming's iconic British spy has dominated cinema for six decades, but James Bond's video game legacy is just as impressive. From humble beginnings on Atari in 1983 to the recent blockbuster 007 First Light, Bond games have evolved dramatically. While many are fun, only four titles have achieved true masterpiece status—games that remain playable and beloved decades later. Here they are, ranked from outstanding to all-time greatest.

4. James Bond 007: Everything or Nothing (2004)

EA Games kicked off a fondly remembered trilogy with Agent Under Fire in 2001, but Everything or Nothing was the most ambitious Bond game of its era. This PS2 gem pushed the console to its limits with stunning graphics that still hold up better than the later 007 Legends. It also featured an all-star voice cast including Willem Dafoe, Shannon Elizabeth, Heidi Klum, and franchise regulars John Cleese, Judi Dench, and Pierce Brosnan. While the plot is a bit silly, it's more satisfying than Die Another Day. Many fans consider this Brosnan's unofficial fifth Bond film. 3. James Bond 007: Nightfire (2002)

Building on Agent Under Fire, Nightfire is a polished, confident sequel. The opening level, "The Exchange," is widely considered the best level in any Bond game—a sprawling castle assault with multiple approaches, clever gadgetry, and wit. Other highlights include a shocking Bond girl death and a trip to space. However, stick with the console version; the PC port is janky and missing the excellent driving levels. For many diehard Bond fans, Nightfire remains their all-time favorite.

2. 007 First Light (2026)

IO Interactive, the studio behind the Hitman series, delivered a shockingly good Bond game with 007 First Light. It's already being called one of the best games of the 2020s, blending third-person shooting, stealth, and gadget-driven spycraft. While many critics call it the best Bond game ever, it's too soon to dethrone the king. Still, it's a game-of-the-year contender and a must-play.

1. GoldenEye 007 (1997)

No list of Bond masterpieces is complete without GoldenEye 007. Made by a team of just 10 people (eight of whom were first-time game developers) on a tiny budget, this N64 classic revolutionized first-person shooters and multiplayer gaming. Its influence is still felt today, and it remains a cultural touchstone 30 years later. These four games represent the pinnacle of James Bond video games. Whether you're a longtime fan or new to 007, each offers a unique and unforgettable spy experience.
