Peter Parker has been through the wringer. Since his first encounter with Tony Stark a decade ago, life has only gotten more complicated—culminating in the world forgetting he ever existed. Now, in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, we find a lonely, anonymous Spider-Man trying to piece his life back together as the universe hurtles toward a certain Doom. But where exactly does this next chapter fit in the sprawling MCU timeline?
In an exclusive chat with Collider, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige and producer Amy Pascal finally shed light on the film's chronological placement. When asked about the movie's relation to Avengers: Doomsday, Feige was succinct: “It takes place before.” Pressed on whether it's right before, he clarified, “No, it’s before.” Pascal then offered a more precise detail: “Four years after No Way Home.”
Four Years of Solitude
That four-year jump means audiences will meet a Peter Parker who has already spent significant time living with the consequences of Doctor Strange's spell. His loved ones don't remember him, Aunt May is gone, and he's back to basics—using a homemade suit and forsaking the high-tech gear from his mentor. This gives Peter room to become the street-level Spider-Man fans have been craving, rather than picking up days after the last movie. He's been working alone for years, building a new identity and adjusting to a life he never wanted.
The confirmation that Brand New Day occurs before Avengers: Doomsday also means Peter's solo adventure could directly shape his role heading into Avengers: Secret Wars. Whether he'll appear in Doomsday remains up in the air, but at least we know the film isn't set after Doctor Doom's arrival.
